Senior Accountant

Senior Accountant plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of the organization's financial reporting.

Responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing complex accounting activities, including monthly balance sheet and income statement reviews, preparation of correcting journal entries, high‑level account reconciliations, and management of the month‑end and year‑end close processes in accordance with GAAP and internal control standards.
  • Managing specialized accounting areas such as cash and accruals, allocations, fixed assets, revenue and accounts receivable, payroll and employee benefits, intercompany accounting, consolidations and financial reporting, and internal controls and compliance reporting.
  • Preparing financial statements, management reporting, and audit schedules, and working directly with external auditors and internal stakeholders on technical accounting matters and non‑routine transactions.
  • Mentoring and reviewing the work of Staff Accountants, driving accounting policy updates, system enhancements, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Overseeing complex bank, balance sheet, and general ledger account reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and resolving discrepancies.
  • Ensuring compliance with GAAP for assigned balance sheet and income statement accounts, with ownership of high‑complexity accounting areas such as consolidations, intercompany eliminations, revenue recognition, and fringe benefits.
  • Coordinating month‑end and year‑end close processes, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and adherence to reporting timelines.
  • Preparing and distributing management financial reports and financial statements with detailed commentary and disclosures.
  • Developing, implementing, and maintaining internal controls in compliance with corporate policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Partnering with functional leaders to support accurate financial reporting and provide guidance on the accounting treatment of non‑recurring and complex transactions.
  • Collaborating with external auditors, preparing audit schedules, providing supporting documentation, and addressing audit inquiries.
  • Providing support to Staff Accountants through training, review, and approval of analyses, journal entries, reconciliations, and internal controls.
  • Ensuring timely filing of census, statutory, and regulatory reports.
  • Leading or participating in projects related to accounting updates, including the adoption of new GAAP standards and changes to accounting policies.
  • Conducting ad hoc financial analysis and leading process improvement initiatives, system enhancements, and special projects impacting compliance, efficiency, and reporting accuracy.

Travel to plant locations is expected up to 10%.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements

Applicants should demonstrate leadership, analytical strength, cross‑functional communication, and the ability to manage complex tasks and drive improvements.

Requirements include:

  • Minimum of four years of general accounting experience.
  • Understanding of US GAAP and, increasingly, IFRS, and ability to correctly apply measurement and reporting guidance.
  • Advanced proficiency in ERP systems, Excel, financial reporting, and Business Intelligence tools.
  • Experience supporting audits and financial statement preparation.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; MBA or Master's degree in Accounting desirable.
  • Public accounting or manufacturing experience is a plus.
  • CMA, CPA, or equivalent preferred.
Physical Requirements

Ability to safely perform job functions consistent with ADA/FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.

Must be able to lift and carry up to 15 lbs, and communicate effectively by telephone.
