Position: Spanish Teacher Middle School (1 year position)

Secondary School Spanish Teacher

The Pawtucket School Department is seeking a secondary school Spanish teacher. Under the direction of the school administrator, the classroom Spanish teacher will implement the educational curriculum. Exemplary duties/responsibilities include planning and providing appropriate learning experiences for students, providing an atmosphere and environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of individuals to ensure success for every student, guiding the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals, establishing clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, and communicating these objectives to students and parents, preparing for classes assigned and showing written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate supervisor, monitoring and evaluating student outcomes, developing, selecting and modifying instructional plans and materials to meet the needs of all students, maintaining appropriate records and following required procedures and practices, monitoring appropriate use and care of equipment, materials and facilities, participating in meetings, workshops and seminars for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions, preparing a wide variety of written materials for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference, and/or conveying information, communicating and interacting with students, staff, parents and the community, supervising students in a variety of school related settings, actively participating in advisory program and monitoring and supporting students in advisory class, establishing relationships with families to communicate student progress, being knowledgeable of and skilled at instructional techniques, assessment techniques, professional learning communities, differentiated instruction techniques, managing classroom procedures and behaviors, organizing physical space to create a safe, accessible, and resource-rich environment, preparing and maintaining accurate records, RTI (Response to intervention), PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention Support), cultural competency, conflict resolution, working with a significant diversity of individuals and/or groups, working effectively with administrators, colleagues, central office, school based staff, students, parents and the community, working with data of varied types and/or purposes;

and utilizing job-related equipment, independent problem solving to analyze issues and create action plans, meeting deadlines and schedules; working as part of a team, and being a reflective practitioner; striving to maintain and improve professional competence.

Licensure/Certificate Requirements:
Valid RI Teaching License in secondary Spanish A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university

Desirable

Qualifications:

Minimum of two years teaching experience

Compensation/Hours/Benefits:
Full PSD benefits package; 184 day contract Salary range is dependent on step level and degree attainment level
