The Bunong telephone interpreter renders the meaning of conversations between Bunong and English speakers on demand in a variety of industries. The role is remote and requires a quiet, secure working environment.
Essential Job Functions- Respond promptly to interpreting calls and conduct interpretation in a friendly, professional manner.
- Render concepts and meanings according to established interpretation protocols, avoiding omissions or additions.
- Speak clearly in both languages with proper pronunciation, enunciation and polite expressions.
- Maintain a professional demeanor throughout all sessions.
- Remain calm during sessions, including emergency situations such as 911 calls.
- Maintain punctuality and availability during work hours.
- Follow client instructions and protocols, ensuring no interaction with the limited‑English speaker without the client’s permission.
- Understand industry terminology for medical, insurance, finance and law contexts.
- Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and work in a diverse environment.
- Handle highly emotional or stressful calls and remain on call for extended periods as needed.
- Fluency in Bunong and English, with skills in associated cultural dynamics.
- Ability to provide cultural competency and assess regional and accent variations.
- Excellent listening, retention and note‑taking skills.
- Ability to concentrate and remain detached and objective during sensitive conversations.
- Education or work experience in language‑related fields such as teaching, assessment, translation or interpretation (preferred).
- At least 18 years of age.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States and no future visa sponsorship required.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to read and write the requested languages (highly preferred).
- Willingness to pass a background check and/or drug screen if required.
- Dedicated personal device for business purposes.
- Desktop or laptop computer with Windows, MacOS, or Chrome
OS. - Tablets (iPadOS or Android) and smartphones (iOS or Android) acceptable.
- High‑speed Internet connection with download speeds not less than 5 Mbps, upload speeds at least 3 Mbps, ping no more than 300 ms, and jitter no more than 30 ms.
- Access to a quiet space free from background noise or distraction.
- Proficiency with company‑provided software and systems.
- Operate keyboard and mouse and remain seated in front of a computer for the majority of the workday.
