The Facilities Maintenance Worker at the Blackstone Valley Advocacy Center (BVAC) is responsible for performing a variety of routine maintenance tasks to ensure that buildings, equipment, and grounds are well-maintained. This role ensures that the facilities remain safe, functional, and presentable for staff, clients, and visitors. The General Maintenance Worker helps to maintain a safe and comfortable environment for all who use BVAC services.
Expected Hours: 30 – 35 hours per week
Schedule:
- 8-hour shift
- Day shift
- Holidays
- Monday to Friday
- Nights and weekends as needed
- On-call availability
· Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on equipment, systems, and building infrastructure.
· Troubleshoot and repair basic plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems.
· Repair or replace damaged fixtures, such as doors, windows, and locks.
· Conduct basic carpentry, painting, and patching of walls, floors, and ceilings.
· Maintain grounds, including lawn care, snow removal, and trash collection.
· Respond promptly and effectively to emergency maintenance requests.
· Work with external contractors for larger repairs or installations when necessary.
· Maintain accurate maintenance logs and ensure compliance with safety and building regulations.
· Perform routine cleaning tasks as needed to ensure a clean and safe environment.
· Safely and efficiently operate and maintain tools and equipment.

High School
Qualifications/Skills/Requirements:
· Proven experience in facilities maintenance, including knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems.
· Proficiency in using tools and performing basic repairs.
· Familiarity with logic controllers and the ability to troubleshoot related issues.
· Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
· A customer service-oriented mindset and the ability to work well under pressure.
· Ability to work independently and collaborate with team members effectively.
