Community Connections and Partnership Liaison

12-month position

FLSA Status:

DESCRIPTION:

Community Connections and Partnership Liaison performs professional community engagement work in the planning, development, organization, and implementation of programs and services. The Liaison will work closely with the Superintendent’s Office.

Job responsibilities focus on four major areas:

  • 1.Grant Writing/Research
  • 2.Internal and external liaison activities including: community and business organizations, school districts, and social service agencies;
  • 3.Establishing and facilitating planning and problem-solving Title I school related support and activities, family and parent engagement that support schools and the community.
  • 4.Private Sector Services and Coordination of Events

Distinguishing Features: A significant element of work involves public contact with the ability to engage diverse populations. Supporting partnerships and programs that enhance community engagement. Flexibility of work day may include some evenings, weekends or holidays for special events. Supervised by the Superintendent.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Collaboratively planning, developing, and implementing a variety of information for programs or materials to facilitate communication to students, families, employees, and the community
  • Developing and supporting educational programs and effectively educating a diverse community about programs.
  • Assisting with the development and production of materials using web technology; collaboratively developing social media and web page content regarding programs
  • Lead and support responsibilities for school and community projects
  • Collaborative Parent Family Engagement Site Level/ District Level Development for School Improvement
  • Communicates with the general public, neighborhood associations or representatives, City employees, management, vendors, and local and regional public officials in order to facilitate planning
  • Prepares written documents and reports as requested
  • Collaborative correspondence for programs, action plans, and programmatic initiatives.
  • Makes oral and written presentations regarding the work of the Community Connections Team
  • Facilitates planning and problem-solving efforts across community task forces and neighborhood groups/associations as requested.
  • Conducts research and analyzes data and literature related to the operation of grant programs to support grant writing
  • May lead a project or team
    - Performs mathematical calculations, statistical computations, and financial and cost analysis studies f or community engagement and response programs.
  • Prepare and Present data relative to Parent and Community Engagement/demographic information to analyze and interpret trends.
  • Projects/Duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
  • Ability to perform other duties assigned in order to meet the specific needs of the Pawtucket School Department and its employees.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associates in Business or Public Administration, Communications, or a closely related field.
  • 3-5 years of professional-level experience in operating and administering community outreach, youth development, community assistance, or community programs or events.
  • Must possess a valid Driver's License

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in public speaking
  • Facilitating problem-solving meetings for complex community challenges
  • Experience creating and/or managing successful community programs; experience working with a diverse community

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Frequently required to stand, sit and walk
  • Occasional lifting or carrying weighing up to 25 pounds
  • The working conditions (light, noise level, temperature, etc. are typical of (primarily) an office setting although the employee may be exposure to adverse weather conditions related to visits to school buildings or other locations
  • Specific physical abilities include close vision and the ability to use computer monitors for long periods of time, as well as the ability to communicate verbally in person and on the telephone.

Salary: $60,000 to $70,000 Per Year
