About This Inpatient Registered Nurse (RN) Position

Hope Health is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for its affiliate Hope Health Hospice & Palliative Care. This position will be located in Providence, RI. The successful candidate will provide professional nursing care to patients, family, and/or caregiver as prescribed by the physician and in compliance with regulations established by the State Board of Registered Nursing, state policies, and under the direction of the Clinical Manager for the Hulitar Hospice Center.

The role requires a disciplined, accurate approach, quick and correct execution of tasks, and a strong sense of urgency with professional courtesy.

The work schedule is 2, 12‑hour shifts, 7:00 pm–7:30 am with an every-other‑weekend requirement. This is a part‑time 24‑hour night position that is eligible for benefits.

What will you do as an Inpatient Registered Nurse (RN)?
  • Welcome and admit patients and families to the Inpatient Unit in a competent, professional, compassionate, and responsive manner.
  • Provide professional nursing care using all elements of the nursing process. Coordinate all aspects of patient care from initial assessment through discharge.
  • Assess and evaluate patient status, develop and initiate plans of care in collaboration with patient/caregiver/primary health professional, and regularly re‑evaluate needs and respond to changes.
  • Conduct ongoing evaluation and revision of care according to patient outcomes.
  • Coordinate patient care and admission, including comprehensive nursing assessment and completion of required paperwork in accordance with organizational policies and federal, state, and accreditation standards.
  • Initiate and sustain, as needed, implementation of orders for medications and treatments as prescribed by the physician.
  • Apply appropriate preventive and therapeutic nursing procedures, maintaining communication regarding patient care with primary care providers and other health professionals.
  • Complete, maintain, and submit accurate, relevant, and timely documentation (written/electronic) regarding patient condition and care given, complying with all confidentiality policies and procedures.
  • Observe patients for changes in condition, report these changes and patient/family/caregiver needs to the attending physician and supervisory personnel, and record pain/symptom management changes/outcomes as appropriate.
  • Facilitate patient care for activities of daily living, promote self‑sufficiency and optimal comfort care when appropriate, teach self‑care techniques to the patient/family/caregiver, and provide medication, diet, and other instructions as ordered by the physician.
  • Work collaboratively with interdisciplinary team members, assess patient environment, and educate families on home environment/safety issues when discharge to home is appropriate.
  • Be available to precept two–three shifts per week during the first two–three months.
What are the qualifications for this job as a Registered Nurse?
  • RN license required, BSN preferred.
  • 1–3 years of related experience.
  • Strong nursing assessment, clinical, and communication skills.
  • Hospice care and/or related experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in medication dosage calculations.
