Reports To: Building Principal
Payette School District is seeking qualified paraprofessionals to support students at Payette Primary School for the 2025–26 school year. Paraprofessionals work under the direct supervision of licensed teachers and administrators to support instructional, behavioral, and supervision needs in classroom and school settings.
This position supports student learning and school operations and does not replace the responsibilities of licensed staff.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesDuties may vary by assignment and student needs and may include, but are not limited to:
- Provide instructional support to students individually or in small groups under the direction of a licensed teacher
- Assist with classroom activities, instructional materials, and daily routines
- Support student behavior using district-approved strategies and interventions
- Assist students with organization, transitions, and task completion
- Implement accommodations and supports as outlined in student plans (IEPs, behavior plans, or other educational plans) under teacher direction
- Collect and document basic student data or observations as directed
- Supervise students in classrooms, hallways, playgrounds, and other school settings
- Maintain confidentiality of student and staff information in accordance with FERPA and district policy
- Follow district policies, procedures, and professional expectations
- Perform other duties as assigned consistent with the classified paraprofessional role
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to work effectively with elementary-age students
- Ability to follow direction from licensed staff
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the position
Highly Qualified Requirement (ESSA):
Candidates must meet federal and state “highly qualified” paraprofessional requirements by holding an associate degree or higher, completion of two years of postsecondary education, or successful passage of the Para Pro Assessment (Para-Professional Praxis certification test).
- Experience working with children in a school or childcare setting
- Experience supporting students with academic, behavioral, or special needs
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
While performing the duties of this position, the employee may be required to stand, walk, sit, bend, or kneel for extended periods and assist with student supervision or mobility consistent with assigned duties.
