Accountant - Public Works - $53,991 - $67,489 (Payson, AZ) - Full Time

The purpose of this position is to assist the Public Works Department administrative staff with related accounting issues. This position maintains accounting systems and procedures according to Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) and Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) guidelines. This position works cooperatively with other County Departments.

• Assists with the annual budget process and audits.
• Assists and provides accounting related training to Public Works staff and liaises with administrative staff to enable reclassification and preparation of journal corrections.
• Codes and submits accounts payable invoices and audits credit card receipts. Maintains project files and reports according to the contracts and other relevant information. Maintains list of all current contract for Public Works.
• Assists in the maintenance of project records for each Public Works Division. Attends meetings regarding projects and interacts with other Local, State and Federal Agencies.
• Audits coding of transactions in the general ledger following review and analysis of each department.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or a closely related field.

• Two (2) years experience; or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

• Must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License if position duties require.
