Assistant Principal 2026/2027 School Year

Qualifications- Must possess a valid Arizona Principal Certification.
- Three years of verified teaching experience in grades Pre‑Kindergarten–12.
- Completion of a program in educational administration for Principals.
- A practicum as a Principal.
- Three years experience as an Assistant Principal in grades Pre‑Kindergarten–12 (Preferred).
- Must possess a valid Arizona Driver’s License.
- Must possess a valid Arizona IVP fingerprint clearance card.
Under the general direction of the Principal, the Assistant Principal creates, maintains, and facilitates leadership, supervisory, administrative, and managerial proficiencies to meet the needs, mission, goals, and objectives of the school and its stakeholders.
Performance Responsibilities- Complies with HIPAA and FERPA related confidentiality requirements.
- Develops positive relations with students, parents, school staff and the public.
- Monitors the condition of the building and grounds to assure a clean, orderly, and safely maintained environment.
- Supervises summer custodial work.
- Implements Board policies and administrative rules and regulations relating to the school.
- Safeguards health and well being of pupils and staff.
- Supervises summer school programs.
- Participates in Special Education Multi‑Disciplinary Team meetings.
- Administers and supervises In‑School Suspension.
- Manages and supervises teachers’ duties and evaluations.
- Administers yearly review of school attendance policies.
- Maintains accurate and current attendance records.
- Performs evaluations of Certified and Classified staff members (including office staff).
- Develops a program of public relations in order to further the community’s understanding and support of the educational program.
- Maintains and improves the physical aspects of the school campus.
- Supervises students and crowds for some varsity athletic competitions, fine arts, and student activities.
- Assists in the selection, orientation, and development of school personnel.
- Administers and implements attendance policies and procedures.
- Establishes and maintains relationships with students that respect their dignity while being consistent in the application of students’ decorum procedures.
- Coordinates the high school data warehouse program.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Principal.
- Supervises daily bulletin/announcements.
- Supervises Registrar(s).
- District policies, operations and organization.
- Interpersonal skills including tact, courtesy and diplomacy.
- Office practices, procedures and equipment including computers and related software.
- Leadership and organizational theories and practices.
- Federal and state laws, rules and regulations governing education.
- Open meeting law requirements.
- Budget preparation.

- Supervision and evaluation of certified and support staff.
- Developing and monitoring curriculum guidelines.
- Developing and evaluating school programs.

- Frequently required to stand and walk.
- Occasionally required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

EvaluationPerformance of this position will be evaluated annually by the Principal in accordance with the provisions of Governing Board policy for evaluation of Administrative Personnel.
Terms of Employment12 Months
SalarySalary for the position is set according to the Administrative Salary Schedule determined by the Governing Board.
