Job DescriptionTITLE: PARAPROFESSIONAL – Reading/SPED (Reading and Language Development in a general education environment)
DEPARTMENT: School
Qualifications- Federal Highly Qualified Title I related requirements (must meet one of the following):
- High School Diploma/GED and Associate’s Degree or higher,
OR - Sixty (60) college credits at the 100 level or above,
OR - Passing score on AZ Paraprofessional Exam.
- Current CPR, AED and First Aid certifications.
- Possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Arizona Identity Verified Prints (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card within forty-five (45) days of employment.
The Paraprofessional, under the direction of a PUSD Teacher or Administrator, works with students in a supportive role in furthering students’ education, in a variety of settings.
Performance ResponsibilitiesThe following tasks are essential for this position. This list is not inclusive of all responsibilities. Individuals may not perform all of these tasks, or may perform similar related tasks not listed.
- Complies with all HIPAA and FERPA related confidentiality requirements.
- Develops positive relations with students, parents, school staff and the public.
- Assist with instruction in a classroom for/with students.
- Supervises students when assigned.
- Assist in school activities.
- Assist in school field trips.
- Perform clerical duties.
- Work collaboratively with teachers and staff.
- Perform playground, cafeteria, and bus duty as assigned.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- District policies, operations and organization.
- Interpersonal skills including tact, courtesy, and diplomacy.
- Communication (telephone, email, etc.) etiquette.
- Written and oral English.
- Instructional methods.
- Child behavior.
- Current CPR certification/First Aid Certification.
- Work with students in support of the efficient delivery of approved curriculum.
- Use English language correctly.
- Instruct children.
- Maintain discipline.
