Payson, AZ – Full Time

Overview

The purpose of this position is to enforce the Gila County Short Term Rental Ordinance and other Ordinances using the Gila County Hearing Officer Rule of Procedure. The role investigates potentially unregistered short-term rental properties and other complaints, verifies ownership using recorded property deeds, drafts legal documents for service of process, presents evidence at a hearing to the Gila County Hearing Officer, and monitors the status of a high volume of cases.

This position may also conduct on-site inspections and prepare inspection reports. Customer service duties are also an integral part of the role.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Prepare letters, notice of violation/summons, and set hearing and compliance dates.
  • Conduct site inspections, verify validity of complaints, compose reports, and open cases, referring relevant items to other government agencies.
  • Interpret county codes and determine/assist in meeting permit and other requirements.
  • Monitor cases and report any changes, keeping complainants informed, and work with owners to resolve violations and achieve compliance.
  • Prepare documentation for cases required to go before the Hearing Officer.
  • Provide customer service: answer questions and assist the public with preparation of building and zoning applications.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education Required

High School Diploma or GED.

Minimum Years of Directly Related Experience Required

Two (2) years of relevant experience in code enforcement or familiarity with building codes; or equivalent education, training, and experience.

Professional Credentials Required

Must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License.
