Job Responsibilities
  • Ensure the safety of Gila County citizens by enforcement of State and Local laws and ordinances in an impartial and professional manner.
  • Enforce State and Local laws and ordinances via responding to calls for service, investigations and patrol.
  • Patrol assigned areas, looking for illegal, hazardous and suspicious activities and persons; provide backup assistance, scene security and protection for regional emergency services personnel.
  • Respond to emergency and non-emergency calls for service; investigate criminal and civil complaints and incidents; interrogate and communicate with victims, witnesses and suspects in cases; secure and document crime scenes and property; identify and collect evidence.
  • Perform search and surveillance duties as required; perform follow-up investigations as assigned.
  • Enforce Local, State and Federal laws, and enforce compliance with local regulations and ordinances, according to policies, procedures and regulations.
  • Arrest law violators; locate, pursue and arrest criminal suspects; transport and process prisoners; testify in court; serve arrest, search and civil warrants and other court documents.
  • Conduct traffic stops and investigate traffic accidents and criminal violations; assist motorists, victims and witnesses and investigate incidents as required.
  • Represent the Sheriffs Office at court hearings; prepare reports and materials requested and subpoenaed by the courts; and testify in court cases.
  • Assist and interact with other Sheriffs personnel, County Departments, outside organizations and businesses, and Federal, State and Local law enforcement organizations in order to accomplish tasks.
  • Present education and information through community and school awareness projects; counsel residents on law enforcement regulations, activities, programs and referral resources.
  • May perform special assignment in areas of expertise, including school resource program, lake patrol, K-9, civil process, or special skills training; may be assigned to special enforcement, intervention and investigative teams, or to specific enforcement region.
  • Update and maintain a variety of files, records, event logs, charts and other documents; maintain appropriate records and prepare reports as required and maintain patrol vehicles and equipment in clean and effective operating order.
