Pharmacy Assistance

• Assists the pharmacist, under direct supervision, in the practice of pharmacy and the performance of other pharmacy department duties in accordance with state, federal regulations and company policies.
• Uses pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and processes prescriptions. If PTCB certified, coaches pharmacy technicians and cashiers on the operation of pharmacy systems and cash registers.

• Engages customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services. Resolves customer issues and answers questions to ensure a positive customer experience.
• Models and shares best customer service practices with all team members to deliver a distinctive experience, including interpersonal habits and Walgreens service traits.
• Develops strong relationships with most valuable customers.

• Under pharmaceutical supervision, assists in the practice of pharmacy, following state, federal, and company policy, and reviews the Walgreen Co. Pharmacy Code of Conduct.
• Performs duties assigned by Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist, and Store Manager, including entering patient and drug information, ensuring accuracy, filling prescriptions, and managing workflow.
• Reports prescription errors promptly to the pharmacist and follows Company policies and the Quality Improvement Program.
• Adheres to Good Faith Dispensing policy during all applicable prescription dispensing activities.
• Registers all sales, handles cash, and assists customers in locating OTC products.
• Handles telephone calls that do not require pharmacist attention, including physician calls.
• Processes manual claims for third‑party prescription services in a timely and efficient manner.
• Supports inventory management: ordering, unpacking, checking, storing pharmaceuticals, and filing claims for overages, shortages, order errors, or damaged goods.
• Assists in admin of clinical services, including sample collection, labeling, and coordination with clinics and external providers.
• Develops relationships with local medical community through outreach and detailing.
• Maintains departmental cleanliness, supply stocking, and overall appearance.
• Complies with all company policies, maintains respectful coworker relationships, and completes special assignments as directed.

• Earns and maintains PTCB certification through the designated training program or state-required certification.
• Attends training and completes required PPLs, acquiring continuing education credits, and stays current with healthcare and pharmacy developments.

• Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.

• Prefer six months of experience in a retail environment.
• Prefer prior work experience with Walgreens.
• Prefer strong math skills for accurate prescription filling.
• Prefer good computer skills.
• Prefer knowledge of store inventory control.
• Prefer PTCB certification.
