Pharmacy Assistance
- Assists the pharmacist, under direct supervision, in the practice of pharmacy and the performance of other pharmacy department duties in accordance with state, federal regulations and company policies.
- Uses pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and processes prescriptions. If PTCB certified, coaches pharmacy technicians and cashiers on the operation of pharmacy systems and cash registers.
- Engages customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services. Resolves customer issues and answers questions to ensure a positive customer experience.
- Models and shares best customer service practices with all team members to deliver a distinctive experience, including interpersonal habits and Walgreens service traits.
- Develops strong relationships with most valuable customers.
- Under pharmaceutical supervision, assists in the practice of pharmacy, following state, federal, and company policy, and reviews the Walgreen Co. Pharmacy Code of Conduct.
- Performs duties assigned by Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist, and Store Manager, including entering patient and drug information, ensuring accuracy, filling prescriptions, and managing workflow.
- Reports prescription errors promptly to the pharmacist and follows Company policies and the Quality Improvement Program.
- Adheres to Good Faith Dispensing policy during all applicable prescription dispensing activities.
- Registers all sales, handles cash, and assists customers in locating OTC products.
- Handles telephone calls that do not require pharmacist attention, including physician calls.
- Processes manual claims for third‑party prescription services in a timely and efficient manner.
- Supports inventory management: ordering, unpacking, checking, storing pharmaceuticals, and filing claims for overages, shortages, order errors, or damaged goods.
- Assists in admin of clinical services, including sample collection, labeling, and coordination with clinics and external providers.
- Develops relationships with local medical community through outreach and detailing.
- Maintains departmental cleanliness, supply stocking, and overall appearance.
- Complies with all company policies, maintains respectful coworker relationships, and completes special assignments as directed.
- Earns and maintains PTCB certification through the designated training program or state-required certification.
- Attends training and completes required PPLs, acquiring continuing education credits, and stays current with healthcare and pharmacy developments.
- Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
- Prefer six months of experience in a retail environment.
- Prefer prior work experience with Walgreens.
- Prefer strong math skills for accurate prescription filling.
- Prefer good computer skills.
- Prefer knowledge of store inventory control.
- Prefer PTCB certification.
