Job Title:

Municipal Police Officer

Péronnas, located near Bourg-en-Bresse and just an hour from Lyon and Geneva, is part of the Bourg-en-Bresse community. The town of 6,700 residents enjoys a prime location and an ideal living environment. One-third of its territory is covered by the Seillon Forest, the green lung of the agglomeration, one of the largest oak forests in the region. An active and dynamic town with numerous shops and businesses, it thrives on a rich associative fabric.

There is a clear intention to revitalize the municipal police's missions in the area with an "extra-communal" action dimension in connection with the municipal polices of neighboring towns.

Job Description

The municipal police officer carries out the necessary preventive duties to maintain public order, safety, security, and cleanliness. They also maintain a close relationship with the local population. Under the authority of the Mayor, in coordination with the deputy delegate for security, the General Security Director, and the operational head of the municipal polices of the urban area, you will undertake the following duties:

  • Monitor public tranquility, order, safety, and cleanliness on the ground, through patrols, by engaging with shopkeepers, businesses, local authorities, and residents as part of the citizen participation scheme: visible, regular, and deterrent presence, welcoming, and providing information to local authorities
  • Conduct speed, alcohol, and drug checks
  • Manage funeral police (presence at burials, exhumations), animal and vehicle impoundment, public domain occupation permits, and event declaration files
  • Document infractions related to special police powers (environment, urban planning, departmental health regulations, etc.)
  • Ensure student safety near schools and during official commemorations
  • Organize and lead preventive operations
  • Draft police reports, municipal decrees, reports, and violation notices
  • Participate in the CISPD vigilance cell and weekly cooperation meetings of the municipal polices of the urban area
  • Participate in scheduled control operations with the National Police or within the framework of municipal police cooperation
  • Perform the following administrative functions: posting decrees, minutes, distribution of neighborhood information, letters, and liaison with state services
Profile Sought

The ideal candidate will:

  • Understand the actors and stakeholders in security and prevention
  • Know the functioning of administrations, instances, and decision-making processes
  • Apply techniques for neutralizing animals
  • Collect information, transmit it to superiors, and report
  • Demonstrate a sense of public service and team spirit
  • Have good writing skills and proficiency in computer and office software

Knowledge:

  • Understand the police powers of the mayor and the attributions of administrations, as well as the powers and duties of security and justice services
  • Apply conflict management, mediation, arrest, investigation, and sampling techniques

Skills:

  • Apply and monitor compliance with the mayor's police powers in their area of operation
  • Preventively inform residents of the applicable regulations
  • Quickly analyze unforeseen situations or events
  • Orally or in writing, report to the superior authority on events during service and the measures taken
  • Prepare and write activity reports, mission minutes for patrols and preventive actions
  • Promote information and dialogue with the community
