Position: RN Clinical Nurse (Long Term Care)

Job Summary

The RN Clinical Nurse provides patient-centered, specialized, evidence-based nursing care across the continuum through an interprofessional approach to treatment, research, education, and advocacy. The role focuses on delivering compassionate and safe care within the scope of practice defined by the Wisconsin Board of Nursing and Theda Care policy.

Key Accountabilities
  • Utilize the nursing process, evidence-based practice, and competencies to assess patient condition and nursing needs, developing a plan of care collaboratively with the patient and interprofessional team.
  • Plan for the care needs of patients to provide the highest quality of care and clinical outcomes.
  • Demonstrate clinical expertise in the assigned specialty and perform all professional clinical nurse functions per age‑appropriate, developmentally sensitive, culturally specific requirements.
  • Identify ways to improve the patient’s experience, streamline care processes, and lower costs while promoting quality to improve patient, family, and team member satisfaction.
  • Contribute to a professional environment that encourages mentoring, engagement, and development to retain expert clinicians.
  • Provide consultation and maintain positive relationships with physicians and other interprofessional team members, collaborating to problem‑solve and improve patient care.
  • Anticipate and proactively manage risk to prevent crises.
  • Perform skillfully in life‑threatening emergencies, matching demands and resources during crisis situations.
Qualifications
  • Associate’s Degree in Nursing (ADN) required;
    Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Current Wisconsin RN Licensure.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS). Additional certifications based on department:
    Critical Access Hospitals – Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS);
    Emergency Departments – ACLS, Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS);
    Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) with requirements based on ED experience.
  • Critical Care / Intermediate Care Departments – ACLS, PALS. Neuro Department – ACLS. Cardiac Department – ACLS. Cardiovascular / Special Procedures / Cath Lab – ACLS. OB Departments – Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP). Operating Rooms – ACLS, PALS.
  • Physical ability to move freely and lift up to 50 pounds without assistance.
  • Exposure to blood‑borne pathogens while performing duties; manual dexterity and hand‑eye coordination required.

Work Environment
  • Frequent exposure to sharp objects and instruments.
  • Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock.
  • Occasional high noise levels in work environment.
  • Standing and/or walking for extended periods of time.
  • Transporting, transferring, positioning patients and/or equipment; risk minimized with proper body mechanics.
  • Possible exposure to communicable diseases, hazardous materials, and pharmacological agents.
  • Occasional contact with aggressive or combative patients.
Benefits and Work Details
  • 24/7 onsite nursing staff.
  • Straight shifts of 8 or 12 hours.
  • No call; work only every 3rd weekend.
  • Weekend and float pool premium pay.
  • Scheduled weekly hours: 40.

    Peabody - Appleton, Wisconsin.
  • Overtime exempt:
    No.
  • Worker shift details: PM.
  • Unique facility: separate rooms with own bathrooms.
  • Selective patient acceptance; focus on proactive care.
