Summary

The RN Clinical Manager is accountable for 24/7 oversight of day‑to‑day operations of the department through implementation of strategy, policy, direction, and action planning. They analyze, develop, and implement methods and systems to improve overall efficiency and effectiveness of services, creating an environment that promotes patient‑centered, evidence‑based nursing care across the continuum.

Key Accountabilities
  • Effectively manage team members in a manner consistent with Theda Care policies and values.
  • Ensure the recruitment and retention of competent team members to meet the needs of the department.
  • Be accountable for daily activities and work processes that result in quality outcomes.
  • Oversee and ensure accuracy of time, attendance, and payroll practices.
  • Assist team members in understanding how their day‑to‑day jobs contribute to Theda Care strategy.
  • Develop collaborative relationships with all members of the care team and departments.
  • Ensure effective communication and appropriate escalation of clinical and operational issues to the director.
  • Support shared decision making and shared governance.
  • Coordinate the professional nurse and other team members’ participation in decisions regarding patient‑care delivery and operations that affect daily workflow.
  • Ensure team members are properly trained and informed of procedures, policies, and processes that result in high reliability, safety, and quality outcomes.
  • Support research and innovation to promote advancement of the nursing profession and the health‑care environment.
  • Utilize research findings and evidence‑based practice to establish standards, practices, and patient‑care models that are outcome‑driven and patient‑centered.
  • Lead by example to support operations and hardwire accountability.
  • Provide mentoring and opportunities for growth for team members.
  • Manage daily staffing plans to meet productivity standards and the needs of patients.
  • Work with the director to develop action plans related to budget and budget variances.
  • Contribute to the preparation and implementation of the annual budget.
  • Collaborate when making decisions that have long‑term impact on cost‑effective care.
  • Coordinate activities and ensure continual compliance with regulatory standards (The Joint Commission, CMS, AHCA).
  • Demonstrate, anticipate, and proactively manage risks to prevent crises.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science degree in nursing.
  • Five years of progressive responsibility in a healthcare setting.
  • Three years of leadership experience, including leading teams and/or projects.
  • Current Wisconsin RN license.
  • American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS).
Physical Demands
  • Ability to move freely (standing, stooping, walking, bending, pushing, and pulling) and lift up to 50 pounds without assistance.
  • Exposure to blood‑borne pathogens while performing job duties.
  • Auditory and visual ability to assess and provide nursing care.
Work Environment
  • Frequent exposure to sharp objects and instruments.
  • Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock.
  • Occasional high noise level.
  • Possible exposure to communicable diseases, hazardous materials, and pharmacological agents.
  • Standing and walking for extended periods.
  • Transporting, transferring, positioning patients and/or equipment from one location to another.
  • Occasional contact with aggressive and combative patients.
  • Compliance with department‑specific competencies.
