Position Summary
As a Store Consultant, you consistently deliver a positive customer experience, using consultative skills to anticipate customer needs, suggest alternatives, and provide solutions. You will take orders, coordinate activities in the Store, provide pricing and product information, and recommend appropriate Fed Ex Office products and services. Your role involves operating diverse equipment, moving boxes, stocking materials, managing the production queue, handling complex projects, managing retail supply, and completing assigned tasks based on priority.
GeneralDuties and Responsibilities People
- Follow instructions of supervisors and assist other team members in performing store functions
- Assist in the training of store team members
- Demonstrate consultative behaviors in a retail environment to understand each customer's individualized need
- Provide customer expertise in printing, signs, graphics, and shipping product lines and recommend appropriate Fed Ex Office products and services
- Provide an outstanding customer service experience by using consultative skills to anticipate needs, suggest alternatives, and find solutions
- Resolve all customer problems quickly and to their satisfaction
- Takes complex customer orders using order systems and provides accurate pricing information
- Assemble parcels and prepare goods for shipping by wrapping items in insulation, inserting items into shipping containers, weighing packages, and affixing labels to parcels
- Set up and operate printing, binding, and other related equipment using customer-supplied media and documents
- Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly retail store
- Ensures confidentiality of customer data and careful handling of documents, media, and packages
- Process financial transactions using a POS, including handling cash and making change
- Clean, repair, and stock all retail store printing and shipping equipment and supplies to maximize performance and availability
- Stay current on retail store merchandising materials and ensure proper display of all retail area products and signage
- Takes preemptive action to prevent errors and waste
- Complete required financial paperwork and may assist with financial reporting including daily sales, close-outs, and bank deposits
- Follow Fed Ex Office standard operating procedures as well as legal, HR, safety, customer service, and security policies and procedures
- Perform multiple tasks at the same time
- Look for opportunities to improve knowledge and skills within the retail store
- Operate with minimal supervision
- Adhere to all Fed Ex Office team member and retail store standards, as outlined in the team member handbook
- Perform all other duties as needed or required
- High school diploma or equivalent education
- 6+ months of specialized experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- For new hires, meet all Fed Ex Office employment qualifications in force at time of hiring
- For current Fed Ex Office team members, meet hiring criteria for the position and transfer requirements as outlined in the Team Member Handbook
- Ability to stand during entire shift, excluding meal and rest periods
- Ability to move and lift 55 pounds
- Ability to bend/twist at the waist and knees consistently
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers, vendors, and other team members consistently
- Ability to perform work activities requiring cooperation and instruction consistently
- Ability to function in a fast‑paced environment, under substantial pressure consistently
- Ability to maintain attention and concentration for extended periods of time consistently
- Ability to work with minimal supervision consistently
- Ability to report regularly to work and maintain established business hours to support the Fed Ex Office business, including regular attendance at a physical location or maintaining established business hours depending on the scope and nature of the position
- Pay Transparency:
Compensation range for this role is $20.75 - $24.37/hr actual starting pay will be determined by experience relative to the job, market level, pay at the location, and other job‑related factors permitted by law. Eligible employees may be eligible for additional pay, premiums, or bonus potential. - The Company offers eligible employees health, vision, dental insurance, retirement, and tuition reimbursement.
