Senior Engineer, Electrical

Participates in and may lead a hardware development team. Assists in the design, development, modification, and evaluation of electronic components and systems. May instruct and provide technical guidance to engineers and other technical staff through the design and development process.

Accountabilities

Develops designs for electrical subsystems for electrical components. Confers with other Senior and Staff Engineers to prepare and document design modifications as required. May employ quality improvement and supplier relations approach utilizing customer required formats such as Production Parts Approval Process (PPAP) and Advanced Production Quality Process (APQP) techniques. Works with computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering and design tasks.

Prepares information as needed in the design documentation process. Prepares schematics, product and component related specifications, and Bills of Materials (BOM) as needed. Confirms accuracy of (BOM) and assembly data Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM). Responsible for determining component requirements appropriate to product. Partners with purchasing to confirm availability and facilitate acquisition of new components for builds. Plans, develops, and participates in experimentation and tests related to product development.

Generates and analyzes test data and reports to determine if design meets functional and performance specifications. Responsible for determining root cause of product nonperformance utilizing appropriate test equipment. May confer with research resources to clarify or resolve component problems. Develops, participates in and analyze researches to determine feasibility of proposed product specifications. Participates in development of design process procedure and plan development of experimental test programs.

Develops test and designs process procedures evaluating test results for possible application to other products and/or systems. Provides assistance and technical guidance to less experienced engineers. Interprets and complies with Company policies, procedures, and regulations. Prepares reports, charts, graphs, and other statistical information. Initiates, recommends, or provides solutions through designated channels. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Scope and Competency Requirements

PROBLEM-SOLVING/KNOW HOW:
Four-year College Degree in at least one STEM major (Science; Technology; Engineering; Math) and a minimum of five (5) years of experience; or a minimum of ten (10) years of electric design experience in electronics products within two of the five areas:
Audio, Embedded Processors, RF, Video or Power. REQUIREMENTS:
Experience to include three (3) years of hardware (electronic circuit) design experience required (Automotive preferred). Must be familiar with board design, architecture, layout, EMC, microprocessor, and other component selection (LED, voltage regulator, etc.). Must possess good theoretical knowledge of problems / tasks required. Must possess broad understanding of various areas within main discipline. Automotive electronics/infotainment development experience preferred. Proficiency with C, C++ is a plus.

Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Windows-based databases as appropriate to the position and assignment. (Use any of the following when applicable) Experience in Analog/Digital domains and various signals (audio, video, some RF, power supply, DSP, microprocessors, etc). Ability to use or learn schematic capture system (Zuken). Ability to use or learn BOM system (Agile). ATTRIBUTES/

SKILLS:

Must gain knowledge of budget requirements related to product development. Must be capable of system level design work and solving complex problems independently. Must have the ability to direct and coordinate manufacture or building of prototype products and systems. Must be able to determine component requirements appropriate to product. Must have the ability to function with multiple tasks and interface with other disciplines.

Must have the ability to learn computer applications as necessary for the position. Must successfully complete any training or certification courses required to support or strengthen position. Must be able to work with minimal supervision displaying strong self-motivation. Must have the ability to read, interpret, and follow verbal and written instructions, work procedures and other related materials. COMMUNICATIONS:
Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must communicate appropriate information accurately and clearly as needed. Must have the ability to effectively and appropriately interface and communicate with a variety of individuals or groups on a frequent basis. Bi-lingual Japanese language skills is a plus (use when applicable). MANAGEMENT: N/A TRAVEL:
