The Civil Construction Superintendent will oversee the daily operations on construction sites for civil projects at Summit Construction and Development LLC. This role requires a high level of expertise in managing a team, ensuring safety, maintaining quality control, managing budgets, and ensuring projects are completed on time and within specifications. The Civil Superintendent will collaborate with other team members and provide direction to the workforce while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, and efficiency.
Key ResponsibilitiesProject Supervision
Oversee day‑to‑day field operations of civil construction projects, ensuring the project is executed according to the approved plans, specifications, and safety standards.
Supervise and manage construction crews, subcontractors, and laborers, ensuring tasks are completed on time and according to quality standards.
Review and interpret project blueprints and specifications to ensure all activities comply with requirements.
Safety ManagementEnsure compliance with all safety regulations and industry standards, including OSHA guidelines.
Conduct daily site safety inspections and enforce safety protocols.
Organize and lead safety meetings and provide ongoing safety training for site workers.
Respond promptly to any accidents or unsafe working conditions and ensure they are appropriately addressed.
Foster a collaborative environment, working with the project manager, field staff, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to resolve issues and ensure smooth project progression.
Communicate effectively with all team members, ensuring that tasks are delegated efficiently and resources are optimized.
Provide leadership and guidance to team members, helping them resolve conflicts or issues as they arise.
Scheduling & CoordinationDevelop and manage construction schedules, ensuring all milestones are met.
Coordinate with subcontractors and other stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of materials and services.
Anticipate potential delays and proactively implement solutions to mitigate project setbacks.
Quality ControlOversee the quality of all work performed on‑site, ensuring compliance with project specifications and quality standards.
Inspect work regularly to identify and correct any issues before they become problems.
Coordinate and facilitate inspections by relevant regulatory authorities.
Budget and Cost ControlAssist in managing project budgets, ensuring that expenditures are in line with projections.
Review and approve subcontractor invoices, ensuring they reflect the actual work completed.
Identify potential cost‑saving opportunities and communicate them to the project manager.
Documentation & ReportingMaintain detailed records of site activities, inspections, safety meetings, and any issues that arise.
Provide regular progress reports to the project manager, highlighting any challenges, delays, or potential risks.
Ensure that all necessary documentation for permits and inspections is completed accurately and on time.
Resource ManagementCoordinate the availability and delivery of materials, equipment, and labor required for the project.
Ensure that equipment is properly maintained and meets all safety standards.
Work closely with the procurement team to ensure timely and cost‑effective acquisition of materials and equipment.
Problem‑SolvingIdentify and resolve any issues related to the construction process, including scheduling conflicts, resource shortages, and safety concerns.
Work to minimize downtime by resolving issues quickly and efficiently.
MinimumPhysical Requirements
- Ability to walk, stand, or sit for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds unassisted.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions, including extreme heat or cold.
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hats, safety glasses, ear protection, gloves, and reflective vests.
