Position SummaryFortune‑Johnson General Contractors is seeking a Senior Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate is a self‑starter that embraces ambiguity, thinks big, and brings their own uncompromising standards of excellence. This position will be responsible for evaluating bid specifications and drawings, ensuring all data is gathered to successfully bid and win construction projects. This person will work closely with Project Management and development teams to ensure project success.
PrimaryJob Responsibilities
- Responsible for sending requests for proposals, following up with subcontractors to ensure bids are received, reviewed thoroughly and analyzed in a timely manner.
- Collects, tracks and reviews subcontractor bid packages.
- Performs material take‑offs for all building materials purchased direct.
- Have a thorough understanding of historical costs, understand logistical and/or cost impacts to the budget of details and materials specified.
- Manage estimates in Timberline.
- Ensure Contract Exhibits are completed timely and accurately.
- Establish strong relationships with owners, subcontractors, and operations.
- Stay up to date on market and industry trends.
- Oversee building permit applications, tracking and issuance of permits.
- Bachelor’s degree in construction, engineering, or related discipline.
- 3–6 years experience construction estimating experience – local trade contractor market knowledge a plus, prior construction field experience is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of construction materials and processes.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Timberline, Cortex, Bluebeam, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Must be proactive and work with a sense of urgency.
- Establish strong relationships and partnerships with project managers, superintendents, subcontractors and development.
- Demonstrates solid communication skills, through strong attention to detail, and ability to help facilitate meetings.
- Excellent leader and company team player.
- Ability to effectively coordinate, organize, plan, and manage multiple activities to accomplish desired results.
- Ability to maintain focus while working in a high level, fast‑paced environment.
