The Willow School, an independent preschool through grade eight school in Gladstone, NJ, seeks one highly qualified full-time Kindergarten Assistant Teacher for the 2026-27 school year. The appropriate candidates will join a highly dedicated team of lower school homeroom and specials teachers. The ideal candidates will not only be a talented elementary school teacher but will be a solid fit for The Willow School’s mission and community.
RequirementsThe counselor will be responsible for:
Counseling Services
- Provide individual and group counseling to students to address academic, personal, and social issues.
- Assist students in developing problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Academic Support
- Collaborate with teachers to identify and address academic challenges faced by students.
- Conduct academic assessments and help students set educational goals.
- Participate in school Response to Intervention (RTI) programs.
Social and Emotional Development
- Implement programs to promote social and emotional learning.
- Develop, update, and support implementation of student behavior plans.
- Support students in developing positive relationships with peers and adults.
- Facilitate school initiatives that promote positive behavior systems.
Crisis Intervention
- Respond to and manage crises or emergencies affecting students.
- Collaborate with other school staff and external resources to provide immediate support.
Child Study Support and Accommodations Plans
- Facilitate Child Study Team meetings and collaborate with instructional teams to support students with special needs.
- Develop, update, and support implementation of accommodations plans.
- Participate in eligibility meetings.
Parental and Teacher Collaboration
- Work closely with parents to address concerns about their child's academic, social, or emotional well-being.
- Collaborate with teachers to implement strategies that support student success.
- Develop behavioral plans to support students.
- Provide professional development for staff and parents as needed.
Qualifications
- Certified School Counselor
- SAC certification is a plus
