Matheny Medical and Educational Center is dedicated to providing exceptional care and enhancing the quality of life for children and adults with special needs and medically complex developmental disabilities. Located in Peapack, NJ, Matheny operates a special hospital, a special education school for students ages 3–21, and a comprehensive outpatient center serving individuals with a wide range of disabilities. The main campus is home to approximately 100 residents, with additional community-based group homes supporting adults in Somerset and Warren counties.
Matheny’s interdisciplinary teams care for individuals with cerebral palsy, spina bifida, Lesch‑Nyhan Disease, and other rare conditions, and the organization is recognized as a leading source of expertise on care issues related to these diagnoses. Matheny also provides training for healthcare professionals, therapists, and educators on effective approaches to supporting persons with developmental disabilities.
The Supervisor of Curriculum and Instruction is a full-time, on-site role based in Peapack, NJ. This position oversees the development, implementation, and evaluation of instructional programs for students with medically complex developmental disabilities, ensuring alignment with educational standards and individualized education plans (IEPs). Day-to-day responsibilities include guiding educators in best practices, coaching and mentoring instructional staff, observing classroom instruction, and providing feedback to enhance teaching quality and student outcomes.
The supervisor collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to integrate therapeutic and functional life skills into academic curricula, supports data-driven decision-making, and leads curriculum review and improvement initiatives. Additional duties include coordinating professional development, maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements, and fostering a supportive, inclusive learning environment that reflects Matheny’s mission.
- Strong foundation in Education
, including experience working in special education or with students who have developmental and medical complexities. - Demonstrated Curriculum Development skills, with the ability to design, adapt, and evaluate instructional materials and programs for diverse learning needs.
- Excellent Communication skills to collaborate effectively with educators, therapists, families, and external partners, and to provide clear guidance and feedback.
- Proven Educational Leadership capabilities, including supervision, coaching, and support of instructional staff, and leadership in school-wide initiatives.
- Commitment to high-quality Customer Service
, reflecting respect, empathy, and responsiveness to students, families, and team members. - Master's Degree in Educational Leadership or related required
- NJ Supervisor Standard Certification required
- NJ Principal Certification preferred (CE or Standard)
- Experience with IEP development, progress monitoring, and data-informed instructional decision-making is highly beneficial.
- Ability to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary environment.
- Experience with Google Suite (Sheets, Slides, Docs, etc.)
