The Nursing profession is life‑changing and at Matheny we believe that our nurses are inspirational caregivers for our residents. Nurses at Matheny assume respected leadership roles as part of our medical team with shared decision‑making responsibilities. Nursing at Matheny is a challenging and rewarding experience; our focus is on maintaining patient wellness so they can fully benefit from therapy, education, recreation and community programs.
We follow a unit‑based model of care, with a nurse manager overseeing the overall functioning of each residential unit.
Matheny is a special hospital that provides care to children and adults with medically complex developmental disabilities. Each patient has a primary nurse who coordinates all care needs. Our nurses and nurse managers work closely with paraprofessional staff, keeping close contact with families who are valued members of the healthcare team.
