Matheny Medical and Educational Center has a career opportunity available for a full‑time Nurse Manager. There are two opportunities available in our hospital. The position is Monday‑Friday, with one weekend required every eight weeks.

- Demonstrate strong leadership and management skills. Communicates well with staff and foster a supportive and motivating environment.
- Manages all unit staff on all shifts including Nurses. Works with the Director of CSS to manage CSS staff including supervisors and the Unit Coordinator.
- Ensures there are an appropriate number of nursing and CSS staff scheduled on each shift to meet the needs of the patients.
- Participates in hiring and terminations of nurses and CSS’s as well as counseling/guidance and disciplinary action of these staff member with the director of CSS.
- Assigns duties to the nursing team and assists with coordination of services in order to provide patients with proper medical care and attention.
- Ensures each patient has a care plan which accurately reflects his/her healthcare and program needs.
- Performs relevant research in order to remain apprised of current nursing practices.
- Plans and conducts staff training for those who may require additional guidance or instruction.
- Takes an active role in the annual nurse competency to assure all nurses are trained /educated for this patient population. Collaborates with the entire interdisciplinary team, patients, and families to coordinate patient services.
- Maintains a cooperative relationship among interdisciplinary team members through ongoing communication, timely responses, and efforts to build rapport. Participates in problem-solving efforts and accomplished assigned tasks for the team.
- Supervises and evaluates staff on an ongoing basis. Ensures annual performance evaluations are completed and reviewed with all employees under direct or indirect supervision.
- Establishes a supportive and compassionate environment by providing emotional support to patients, families, and staff as necessary.
- Ensures availability of all required equipment and inventories needed for patients and staff.
- Participates in the development of the departmental budget by evaluating staff, equipment, and supply requirements.
- Protects patients and staff members by ensuring compliance with infection control policies and procedures, enforcing medication administration storage procedures, and controlled dangerous substance regulations.
- Ensures the integrity and confidentiality of medical records. Regularly audits documentation to ensure completeness and accuracy.
Ensures quality of care by interpreting hospital and Nursing philosophies and standards of care. - Enforces adherence to New Jersey Board of Nursing and New Jersey Nurse Practice Act requirements as well as those of other governing agencies. Adheres to Joint Commission and CMS standards.
The salary range for this position is $93,000 - $122,150 annually.

Position Requirements
- Associates degree in a related field from an accredited college or university required. Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university preferred or equivalent years of nursing experience, preferably with Developmental Disabled population.
- Licensed Registered Professional Nurse by the New Jersey State Board of Nursing.
- Current CPR Certification required. ACLS/PALS certification preferred.
- Nurse Manager Certification preferred.
