Job Function

The primary role of the Project Scheduler is to assist Generation Oahu with the effective execution of all maintenance work control processes on equipment overhauls, generating unit outages and station maintenance activities. The Project Scheduler is responsible for the efficient and effective use of planning and scheduling resources to conduct overhaul, outage maintenance and station maintenance activities, which result in minimum downtime and maximum productivity.

The Project Scheduler is empowered to manage work priority, define craft and skills, and engage the proper resources to develop a safe, effective and efficient overhaul and outage work plan.

Essential Functions
  • Serves as the primary work management specialist for Generation Oahu by reviewing planned work associated with overhauls, generating unit outages, projects, and station backlog to determine scope, duration, priority, sequencing, and resource requirements. Coordinates with Leads, Supervisors, Engineering, Operations Supervisors, and Resource Planners to ensure work is properly defined, ready for execution, and aligned with safety, operational, and project commitments.
  • Develops, integrates, and maintains comprehensive workforce and work schedules for overhauls, outages, daily maintenance, and other station activities, including the five-year Generation Oahu maintenance plan, to maximize resource utilization and support safe, efficient execution. Uses available scheduling software to analyze schedule logic, competing priorities, unit availability, material and budget constraints, and labor supply and demand. Coordinates the effective use of maintenance crafts, operations personnel, and contractors, and provides scheduling direction between Generation Operations and Planning & Maintenance to optimize execution and meet project timelines.
  • Develops, tracks, analyzes, and maintains accurate and timely performance metrics for maintenance, planning and scheduling functions, including schedule compliance, resource utilization, backlog performance, and plan‑versus‑actual results. Prepares reports and provides feedback to the Generation Planning and Maintenance Manager and other leaders to support continuous improvement, schedule optimization, and effective execution of maintenance and outage work.
  • Serves as a point of contact to update the department intranet site and to update materials posted on other visual communication media (4

    Winds software) utilized by the department.
  • Promotes teamwork and a self‑directed workforce in support of the corporate and department mission/vision. Interacts with all employees and other internal and external suppliers and customers in a positive, supportive, and collaborative manner, to ensure the fulfillment of company strategic objectives.
  • Supports two‑way communication to ensure feedback is received and customer satisfaction is achieved. Looks for and incorporates continuous improvement on job estimates, planning and scheduling by incorporating feedback from Maintenance Supervisors, Leads, Operations Supervisors, Engineers and Resource Planners.
  • Participates in company emergency response activities as assigned, including any activities required to prepare for such emergency response.
Basic Qualifications Knowledge Requirements
  • Thorough knowledge of the theories and principles of engineering normally acquired through advanced college level courses or equivalent experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of project engineering, project management and construction associated with electric utility facilities and systems normally acquired through extensive professional engineering experience.
  • Working knowledge of federal, state and local laws, regulations and procedures as related to specific projects.
  • Working knowledge of personal computers and/or mainframe systems and related software applications such as spreadsheets, word processing, etc.
  • Working knowledge of “island” utility technical and planning requirements applicable to project management from planning stages through implementation stages to commercial operation date.
