Role Description This is a full-time, on-site role based in Pearl City, HI. The Rolling Stock and Depot Equipment Manager oversees the operation, maintenance, and reliability of rail vehicles and depot equipment, ensuring safety, performance, and regulatory compliance. Day-to-day responsibilities include managing maintenance schedules, supervising technical teams and contractors, coordinating inspections and repairs, and monitoring asset performance data. The role collaborates closely with operations, safety, engineering, and supply chain staff to optimize availability of rolling stock and depot systems and to implement improvements.

The manager also supports budget planning, documentation, reporting to leadership, and the development of procedures and training related to rolling stock and depot equipment.

Qualifications

  • Experience in rolling stock or rail vehicle engineering, maintenance management, or fleet operations.
  • Knowledge of depot equipment and facilities systems (e.g., lifting equipment, cleaning systems, workshop tools, and related infrastructure).
  • Strong skills in planning, scheduling, and asset management, including use of computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • Understanding of safety standards, regulatory requirements, and quality assurance practices in rail or heavy industry.
  • Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, manage contractors, and coordinate with internal stakeholders and external partners.
  • Proficiency in analyzing technical data, investigating faults, and implementing corrective and preventive actions.
  • Effective communication and documentation skills, including the ability to prepare reports and technical procedures.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, transportation, or a related technical field; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Previous experience in rail transit, transportation, or complex industrial environments is highly beneficial.
