Salary Range: All new external applicants will be placed on the initial step of the salary range. Placement above the initial step will be based on special characteristics and critical needs of the position, an applicant's exceptional qualifications, the availability of funds, and other relevant factors, subject to prior approval. Hawaii State Department of Education employees will be placed on the salary range in accordance with Department regulations.

ResponsibilitiesGraduation from an accredited four‑year college or university with a Bachelor's degree. Extensive work experience may substitute on a year‑for‑year basis if it provides comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Must demonstrate the ability to write clear and comprehensive reports, read and interpret complex written material, and solve complex problems logically and systematically.

For this level, at least one year of the required Specialized Experience must be at the fully competent level comparable to the class Data Processing Systems Analyst IV.
Specialized ExperienceProgressively responsible work experience in computer systems analysis involving the analysis and design of systems for electronic processing of data or stored computer programming experience that included participation in systems analysis.
Supervisory ExperienceExperience in computer systems analysis and/or computer programming that included: planning and directing the work of others; assigning and reviewing their work; advising them on difficult and complex problem areas; and timing and scheduling their work.
Substitutions Allowed- A Bachelor's degree in computer science or a comparable major may substitute for six (6) months of specialized experience.
- A Master's degree in information and computer science may substitute for one and one‑half (1‑1/2) years of specialized experience.
- A Doctorate's degree in information and computer science may substitute for two (2) years of specialized experience.
- Excess supervisory experience may substitute for specialized experience on a year‑for‑year basis.
Possession of the required number of years of experience alone will not be accepted; the applicant's overall experience must demonstrate the ability to perform the duties for which the applicant is being considered.
SalaryThe advertised salary is based on full‑time employment and includes shortage and school year differentials, if applicable.
RequirementsApplicants must meet all the requirements for the position as of the date of the application, unless otherwise specified. Unless specifically indicated, the required education and experience may not be gained concurrently. Calculation of experience is based on full‑time, 40‑hour workweeks. Part‑time experience is pro‑rated.
