The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) II provides a variety of practical nursing care, performs related technical work, may serve as 'in charge' or team leader of assigned intermediate care patients in a ward or other patient care unit or a small facility on the evening or night shift, may supervise para‑medical assistants and other unlicensed personnel, and performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications- Legal Authorization to work:
The State of Hawaiʻi requires all persons seeking employment with the state government to be citizens, nationals, permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment. - Hawaii Licensed Practical Nurse License: A valid State of Hawaiʻi license to practice as a practical nurse (LPN) is required at the time of application.
Note:
A Registered Nurse (RN) license does not qualify as a substitution for an LPN license. - Specialized Experience
- One (1) year of progressively responsible work experience as an LPN, licensed vocational nurse, or registered nurse, performing personal care, nursing care and related technical work under the direction of a higher‑level licensed practical nurse, registered nurse, or licensed physician, demonstrating the knowledge and ability to apply practical nursing principles and practices.
- Applicants must have had one (1) year of experience comparable in scope and difficulty to the LPN I.

Public Service Loan Forgiveness ProgramThe PSLF Program is a federal program that is intended to encourage individuals to work in public service by forgiving the balance of their federal student loans. To qualify, the individual must have made 120 qualifying payments while employed by a qualifying employer.
