Environmental Specialist; Entry

This position is onsite at Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii (Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam), requires a CAC, and a favorable Tier 1/NACI-SF85 background investigation.

Supports installation environmental compliance, conservation, records transition, environmental data management, field inspections, and project-planning activities.

• Support environmental program plans, compliance assessments, technical reports, and environmental data products.
• Assist with transfer and organization of environmental records from Navy systems of record to Air Force repositories.
• Maintain SharePoint repositories and upload required environmental documentation to Nex Gen IT or equivalent systems.
• Assist with environmental project planning, cost estimates, specifications, studies, mitigation actions, and abatement projects.
• Support permit applications, regulatory correspondence, inspections, corrective-action tracking, and compliance reporting.
• Assist with environmental inspections and field activities involving water, soil, asbestos-containing material, lead-based paint, wildlife, and facility compliance.
• Assist with hazardous-material surveys and technical evaluations of environmental-service proposals.
• Collect and analyze environmental data and support weekly reports, briefings, meeting materials, and stakeholder communications.

Starting Salary Range for Environmental Specialist (Entry):

Pay commensurate with experience.

• This position requires a Common Access Card (CAC), the ability to pass the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) clearance to acquire a Common Access Card (CAC).
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer; may occasionally require standing or moving about the office for extended periods.
• Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal.

• Military facility or infrastructure experience.
• Experience with Air Force or DoD environmental compliance, natural resources, hazardous materials, environmental records, or environmental data management.
• Familiarity with Nex Gen IT, SharePoint, and environmental project documentation.

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, environmental engineering, biology, chemistry, or related natural-science field from an accredited institution within the 50 United States.

Work is performed primarily in a climate-controlled environment.
