Permanent, full‑time position with the Division of Boating and Ocean Recreation, Department of Land and Natural Resources.
Salary$5,369 to $6,535 per month (SR‑22, Step D to I).

Position OverviewGeneral Professional IV – independently performs complex professional work that involves considerable research and analysis of a variety of issues, identification of options, and recommendation of the most viable solution.
Duties and Responsibilities- Control all security measures at facilities.
- Conduct Facility Security Assessment (FSA), regular security inspections, and annual audits of facilities.
- Train personnel performing facility security duties.
- Assess and report occurrences that threaten the security of facilities.
- Maintain records and prepare reports as required by Title 33 of the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR).
- Coordinate with security services, law enforcement personnel, and other emergency responders in the event of security incidents.
- Ensure that security equipment is properly operated, tested, calibrated, and maintained.
- Brief facility personnel of changes in security conditions at facilities.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Legal authorization to work in the State of Hawaii as a citizen, national, or permanent resident alien, or eligible under federal law.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited four‑year college or university.
- One (1) year of responsible professional work experience requiring a high degree of analytical skill, comparable to General Professional III.
- Experience must include gathering, evaluating, and analyzing facts; preparing clear written reports and recommendations; and applying problem‑solving methods.
- Selective certification requirement: demonstrated knowledge of vessel and facility security measures, emergency planning, security equipment and systems, facility inspections, dangerous substances and devices, and the conduct of physical searches and security drills.
- Applicants must possess at least one year of such experience.
- Supervisory aptitude (not actual experience) may be accepted if there is strong evidence.
- Valid driver’s license at the time of appointment.
Relevant substitution as described in the Minimum Qualification Requirements will apply, except for the Harbor, Inspections & Audits Experience.
