Summary
For over a century, HII has built and maintained the U.S. Navy's most powerful warships. Join us as we continue to maintain the Navy's readiness! We are seeking a Marine Mechanic with AC&R experience to serve on our SEMAT EQOL team located in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. This Marine Mechanic will be responsible for performing mechanical maintenance and mechanical maintenance training to assist shipboard personnel in the operation, maintenance and repair of specific items of galley, laundry, and mess-decks equipment onboard USN Surface Ships.
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance on galley and mess-decks air conditioning and refrigeration units onboard ships.
- Responsible for interfacing with customers, managing subcontractors and ability to provide work directions to others. May provide direction and lead others.
- May manage one or more multiple jobs. Completes comprehension of specialty trades functions and tools. Performs a variety of complicated and non-routine tasks.
- Develops and uses technical documents including controlled work packages, formal work processes and procedures, test documents, reports and task or trip reports.
- Schedules, reports and briefs customers and senior management. May perform quality inspections on finished product. Performs duties outside of specialty in order to complete installation or work assignment.
- High School education, or Trade School or equivalent, and 6 years of related experience.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOD Confidential security clearance.
- Must have shipboard mechanical maintenance and repair experience.
- Must be able to read and interpret equipment and system ship drawings and ship technical documents and manuals.
- Must be competent in the use of mechanical equipment and tools in corrective repair efforts in order to accomplish ship repairs.
- Must provide own hand tools as designated per trades specialty.
- Must be physically able to climb and work on ships in an industrial environment.
- Start date contingent upon approved DBIDS access, which is required for this position and continued employment
- Recent Marine AC&R shipboard experience on USN ships.
- A previous or current EPA certification.
- Prefer technical/professional certifications.
- A current, valid DOD Confidential security clearance or higher.
- Must be able to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes. The exact weight requirements will be determined by the specific job, but no less than 30 lbs.
- Able to work on and climb ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces.
