Job Description

Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic self‑motivated PSG (Platform Screen Gates) Technician/Maintenance Technician to work on our Honolulu Rail Project. The position is based in Pearl City, HI
.

Accountabilities
  • Performs routine, preventive and unscheduled maintenance, inspection, adjustments, testing, cleaning, lubrication and proper maintenance on assigned PSG equipment in accordance with wiring diagrams, schematics, operations and maintenance manuals.
  • Observes PSG system components and devices in operation to detect potential failures and locate causes of malfunction.
  • Responds to PSG malfunctions completing repairs as assigned. Uses electronic test equipment and other specialized tools as required.
  • Completes assigned operational, equipment failure, safety, and other reports as required.
  • Participates in training programs as required.
  • Complies with Safety Rules, Operating Rulebook, and first‑aid procedures.
  • The role requires flexibility and efficiency which require shift rotation weekends and holidays typical of major infrastructure projects and operating transit systems.
  • Works in close proximity to the third rail frequently requesting Red Tag, LOTOs and hot stick application.
  • Performs related duties as required.
  • Ensures execution of assigned maintenance reports and inspection tasks.
  • Records and documents maintenance and diagnostic data.
  • Supports substation fault diagnosis, inspection, testing, modification, maintenance, and repair.
  • Maintains accurate maintenance records, equipment performance, work accomplished, and other information using a computerized maintenance management system.
  • Ensures corrective and preventative maintenance tasks are executed in compliance with company safety policy and local regulations.
  • Drives work vehicles when responding to emergencies and when required on duty.
  • Ensures maintenance tools and equipment are calibrated and in good condition.
  • Executes simple failure analysis and technical investigation.
  • Performs additional job duties on unrelated systems including electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic controlled systems in accordance with training and qualifications.
Required Education & Skills
  • 1‑3 years' experience in electronic equipment maintenance.
  • Ability to use common and specialized tools and test equipment.
  • Knowledge of, or ability to attain, the safety rules regarding lock‑out protection while working on the line and the rules governing the protection of traffic.
  • Ability to use and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, operations manuals, manufacturers' maintenance instructions, Operating Rulebook, etc., and comprehend the operations and maintenance of PSG system.
  • Must have a valid U.S. state driver's license.

Starting pay: $27.42 per hour
