Basic Job Functions.
The Multi‑Craft Maintenance Technician is responsible for repairing and maintaining machinery and mechanical systems.
Responsibilities include:
- Repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment, including motors, pneumatic, hydraulic, and other systems.
- Performs skilled mechanical maintenance and industrial electrical (preventative and corrective) duties, including installation, repair, and troubleshooting.
- Analyzes causes of breakdown during downtime situations.
- Determines and carries out required maintenance actions to return equipment to effective operating conditions.
- Follows and adheres to safety lock‑out procedures, facility safety rules, and maintains excellent housekeeping practices.
Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the Multi‑Craft Maintenance Technician will be an integral member of the Nucor Skyline team, bringing a strong and consistent work ethic and a commitment to follow all electrical/mechanical maintenance practices.
Must be able to work independently as well as in a group, and be willing and able to work weekends and holidays as operating conditions require.
Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
Minimum Qualifications .- High school diploma or equivalent; or one to three years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 2+ years of experience in repairing and troubleshooting mechanical power transmissions and pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
- 2+ years of experience in troubleshooting electrical/PLC issues.
- Vocational or technical school certificate in a related area.
- Experience with bearing installment, coupling, belts, sprockets, and chain drive installations.
- Experience with metal fabrication and basic principles of cylinder repair.
