We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic After-School Program Assistant to Providing students with a safe, caring and educational environment for children in which to complete their homework and receive help on homework; and, to provide enrichment opportunities for students in the form of creative projects, games, etc. Their role primarily involves assisting in the planning and implementation of activities that take place in the after-school program.
CHARACTERISTICDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervising and guiding children.
- Assisting with homework and school assignments.
- Planning and implementing educational activities.
- Communicating effectively with parents and school staff.
- Ensuring the safety and well‑being of students after school hours.
- Supporting delivery of the school’s academic programs.
- Controlling student behavior in a fair and consistent manner.
- Maintaining a log of students enrolled in the program.
- Communicating effectively with the After‑School Program Director and Operations Manager as needed.
- Assisting in planning and implementing daily after‑school program activities.
- Supervising and engaging children in age‑appropriate activities.
- Maintaining a safe and positive environment for the children.
- Helping with homework and tutoring as needed.
- Distributing snacks or meals.
- Ensuring the cleanliness and orderliness of the facility.
- Assisting in maintaining accurate program records including incident reports, daily attendance, and timesheets.
- Adhering to all program policies and procedures while upholding the code of conduct.
- Engaging with children through various activities such as arts and crafts projects, games and physical activities, and promoting positive social interactions.
- Developing and encouraging age‑appropriate learning and socialization to boost children’s development.
- Maintaining a clean and safe environment.
- Adhering to all safety and health regulations.
- Actively engaging with students during activities and clearing up spaces for these activities.
- Building relationships with students, encouraging participation, and fostering a positive learning environment.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience working with children in a school or after‑school setting.
- Basic knowledge of child development and educational activities.
- First aid and CPR certified.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience and resilience with excellent problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to pass background check and drug screening.
