Role DescriptionThis full-time, on-site role is for a 7th Grade ELA and AOT/SS Teacher located in Pearland, TX. The teacher will design and deliver engaging lessons in English Language Arts, Academic and Organizational Tools (AOT), and Social Studies aligned to district and state standards. Daily responsibilities include preparing lesson plans, facilitating whole-group and small-group instruction, differentiating instruction to meet diverse learning needs, and integrating reading, writing, speaking, listening, and critical thinking skills across content areas.
The teacher will assess student learning through formative and summative assessments, provide timely feedback, maintain accurate records, and communicate regularly with families and colleagues. Additional responsibilities include participating in professional learning communities, collaborating with grade-level and content teams, supporting campus initiatives, and maintaining a safe, inclusive, and culturally responsive classroom environment.
- Current Texas teaching certification (or eligibility) in English Language Arts/Reading for middle grades;
Social Studies certification preferred or willingness to obtain. - Demonstrated ability to plan and implement standards-based ELA and Social Studies instruction that integrates reading, writing, and critical thinking skills.
- Experience using formative and summative assessment data to guide instruction, monitor progress, and support diverse learners, including multilingual learners and students with accommodations.
- Strong classroom management skills and the ability to create a positive, inclusive, and culturally responsive learning environment for all students.
- Proficiency with instructional technology and learning platforms to support instruction, communication, and student engagement.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with students, families, colleagues, and campus leadership.
- Commitment to continuous professional growth, reflective practice, and alignment with HISD’s mission and expectations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field required; relevant middle school teaching experience strongly preferred.
