Earn up to $5,000 in hiring incentives when you join the City of Pearland's Utilities Team as a Licensed TCEQ Water Operator!

Incentive amounts based on license grade:

  • Grade C License - $2,500
  • Grade B License - $3,500
  • Grade A License - $5,000

Salary
: $24.07 to $26.05 per hour based on experience and qualifications. Certification pay is available for licenses higher than required for the position.

Essential

Functions
  • Performs daily plant checks of the wastewater plants' mechanical, chemical, and electrical equipment operations.
  • Runs daily process control sample testing using lab equipment onsite according to plant permit requirements; checks lab results and makes corrections.
  • Turns on, monitors, and makes adjustments to equipment during the course of the day to maintain removal of solids in accordance with process procedures.
  • Performs plant maintenance and makes repairs to any equipment that may need to be repaired or replaced.
  • Reads operator's process control reports, logbooks, and lab sampling results.
  • Troubleshoots and fixes problems at the wastewater facilities.
  • Participates in plant inspections by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).
Requirements
  • High school graduation or GED equivalent, supplemented by specialized courses/training equivalent to completion of one year of college chemistry, biology, or a closely related field.
  • Four (4) years of wastewater operations or closely related experience.
  • Wastewater Treatment Operator Class C License (required).
