Position Summary
Under the direction of the Director of Human Resources, the Senior Human Resources Manager is a hands‑on leader responsible for overseeing comprehensive benefits administration and managing employee relations across the organization. This role ensures competitive, compliant benefits programs while fostering a positive, fair, and respectful employee experience. The Senior HR Manager serves as a trusted advisor to leaders and employees, balancing business needs with employee advocacy and risk management.
Job Responsibilities- Benefits Administration
- Leadership of benefit administration and continuous improvement of all employee benefits programs, including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, retirement plans, wellness programs, and voluntary benefits. Partnership with Director of Human Resources and Senior Leadership Team on benefit design for market competitiveness.
- Primary liaison with benefits brokers, carriers, and third‑party administrators; manage vendor performance, renewals, and negotiations.
- Oversee annual open enrollment planning and execution, including employee communications, system configuration, and issue resolution.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations (e.g., ACA, ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA, state leave laws).
- Partner with Payroll and Finance to ensure accurate deductions, reporting, and reconciliation.
- Analyze benefits utilization, trends, and costs; prepare recommendations to improve competitiveness, employee engagement, and cost efficiency.
- Develop and deliver clear benefits education and communications to employees and leaders.
- Employee Relations
- Primary point of contact for employee relations matters, including performance issues, workplace conflicts, policy interpretation, and disciplinary actions.
- Conduct internal investigations related to employee complaints, including harassment, discrimination, retaliation, and policy violations; ensure timely, fair, and well‑documented outcomes. Escalate egregious issues to Director of Human Resources.
- Advise leaders on corrective action, performance management, and termination decisions, ensuring consistency and legal compliance.
- Partner with leadership to promote a positive workplace culture rooted in respect, accountability, and inclusion.
- Support conflict resolution through coaching, mediation, and proactive interventions.
- Monitor trends in employee relations issues and recommend policy, training, or process improvements.
- Leadership & Strategy
- Direct supervisor for HR Generalist and Houston Receptionist.
- Collaborate with HR leadership to develop and implement HR strategies aligned with business objectives.
- Lead, mentor, and develop HR team members as applicable.
- Review, update, and enforce HR policies and procedures to ensure clarity, consistency, and compliance.
- Support audits, risk management efforts, and employment‑related claims as needed.
- Serve as a trusted HR partner to managers and senior leaders, providing sound judgment and practical solutions.
- Support Corporate Services and Executive team with special projects, programs and initiatives.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High School diploma or GED is required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field is preferred; equivalent experience considered.
- HR Certification (SHRM‑CP; PHR) is preferred.
- Familiarity with licensing requirements (NICET, state fire marshal, AHJ permitting) is a plus.
- 10+ years of progressive HR experience, with significant responsibility in benefits administration and employee relations.
- Experience working in a multi‑state or complex organizational environment.
- Experience managing or mentoring HR staff.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to build trust across diverse roles, including field and technical teams.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- ADP Workforce Now experience is strongly preferred.
- Must have valid state driver’s license and good driving record.
- Ability to travel up to 25%; travel by car and airplane.
- 100% office setting, including sitting, some bending, some lifting, walking and viewing.
