Position Summary

The Human Resources Generalist with Payroll Experience will support the HR Manager and contribute to the overall effectiveness of HR operations. This role supports a broad range of HR functions, including payroll, employee relations, HRIS management, benefits administration, onboarding, and compliance. The ideal candidate is customer service‑focused, highly organized, and communicates effectively with employees and vendors, with strong attention to detail, discretion, and experience with HR systems (Paylocity ready preferred).

Key Responsibilities
  • Understand employment law and benefit compliance, including compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Process payroll in Paylocity, ensuring accuracy and timeliness, including proper handling of all payroll‑related items, discrepancies, and benefit deductions.
  • Review and support timesheet processing to ensure accuracy prior to payroll.
  • Advise employees and managers regarding benefits and leave programs with established policies and procedures, and answer employee questions as needed.
  • Maintain employee data and benefit records in the HRIS, ensuring accuracy and proper administration of benefits and retirement plans.
  • Review and verify incoming and outgoing employee documentation for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate administrative tasks for onboarding, new‑hire orientations, and exit interviews.
  • Prepare for a smooth new‑hire onboarding process, coordinating with cross‑functional departments to deliver an exceptional first‑day experience.
  • Assist in the coordination of performance management, answer questions, and ensure managers and employees complete the performance process.
  • Coordinate training programs and ensure notifications are working in the Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Assist with the setup of open enrollment changes in the HRIS and the coordination of communication to employees.
  • Communicate with service providers concerning employee benefit matters or questions.
  • Coordinate employee benefit meetings.
  • Process initial unemployment responses and represent Solv Chem in unemployment hearings.
  • Participate in HR objectives, system changes, management reporting metrics, queries, and ongoing reports for company requirements.
  • Compose drafts of written correspondence and set up announcements to employees in HRIS.
  • Coordinate employee events with the team.
  • Coordinate and gather information for 401(k) audit.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources preferred; SHRM‑CP or PHR certification a plus.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish a plus.
  • Minimum three (3) years of hands‑on Human Resources administration; experience must include Benefits Administration and payroll, and at least two other human resource disciplines, including, but not limited to, recruiting, employee relations, HR information systems, employee development, policy compliance, and performance management.
