Overview
Texas Oncology is seeking an Oncology Infusion Registered Nurse (RN) to support our Pearland, Texas location. The position is Monday‑Friday, with no weekends, holidays, or on‑call duties.
This role may be Level I, Level II, or Senior based on candidate experience.
Responsibilities- Plan, implement, coordinate, evaluate and promote continuity of care consistent with established standards and practices.
- Assess patient and family needs and provide teaching and instructional material.
- Prepare and administer therapies under the direction and supervision of a physician.
- Administer all medications/blood products using correct dosage, route, time and technique.
- Ensure pre‑authorization and appropriate consent forms are obtained prior to administration of therapies where applicable.
- Facilitate dose modification by assessing patient, labs, consulting protocol or treatment plan, calculating dose, and consulting physician regarding dosage modifications, problems and symptom management.
- Perform venipuncture, access implanted ports and maintain central line catheter devices.
- Maintain accurate documentation of assigned patient care and treatments provided.
- Apply knowledge of reimbursement procedures and charge capture.
Education/Training:
- Graduate from an accredited professional nursing program; BSN preferred.
- Registered Nurse (RN) state license and current registration with the State Board of Nursing.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Maintain continuing education requirements.
Experience:
- Level I: 0‑3 years nursing experience; oncology experience strongly preferred.
- Level II:
Minimum three (3) years nursing experience; oncology experience strongly preferred. - Level Senior:
Minimum five (5) years nursing experience, including at least one year in oncology; oncology certification preferred.
The work environment involves potential exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medical preparations and other conditions common to an oncology/hematology clinic environment. Physical RequirementsRequires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye‑hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Occasionally lifts items up to 40 lb. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
