Inspector

Corporate, Pearland, TX, US

Job Responsibilities
  • Inspect structures containing Fire Sprinkler Systems, Fire Alarm Systems, Fire Extinguishers, Hood Suppression Systems, and other fire protection components.
  • Perform inspections of sprinkler systems (Wet, Dry, Fire Pumps, Pre-action, Deluge, Antifreeze Loops, backflows, etc.) in a cost-effective manner.
  • Perform inspections of alarm systems in a cost-effective manner.
  • Perform inspections of extinguishers, hood suppression systems, and other special hazard systems.
  • Correctly complete all inspection-related documentation.
  • Maintain RME-I license; obtain and maintain TCEQ backflow licensing (B-PAT) and other relevant licenses.
  • Cross-train and obtain additional licensing duties to acquire multiple licenses.
  • Lead large inspections and special projects with multiple technicians or solo.
  • Assist and/or fill in for inspection manager as required.
  • Mentor lower level technicians during their pursuit of additional licenses and knowledge.
  • Ensure timely and complete submission of JSAs, Toolbox Talks, audit forms, etc.
  • Ensure timely and accurate incident and accident reporting.
  • Hold yourself accountable for all safety initiatives, safe driving of company vehicles, and stop-work authority.
  • Submit accurate timesheets (job numbers, OT and travel pay) and support transition to electronic timesheet submission.
  • Ensure all required documents are complete, accurate, and professional with required signatures.
  • Proper inventory management: review, update, and approve packing slips; manage materials.
  • Maintain proper care of equipment – trucks, lifts, tools.
  • Keep job sites clean and organized.
  • Ensure production efficiency by monitoring budget vs actual labor hours and communicating proactively with superintendent.
  • Support and ensure adherence to company SOPs – purchase orders, change orders, etc.
  • Maintain customer satisfaction and respond to customer satisfaction survey feedback.
  • Maintain quality control by reducing need for return trips and warranty work.
  • Maintain professional appearance.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally within the department and with internal and external customers.
  • Foster teamwork by maintaining positive interactions within the team and local office.
  • Actively participate in required team meetings.
  • Work overtime, out of town, or on-call as needed.
Preferred Licenses
  • Develop working knowledge of applicable NFPA standards and manufacturer installation manuals.
  • Hold all Fire licenses, including RME-I, FAL, FEL-A, B-PAT (Backflow Preventer).
  • Lead large inspections and special projects with multiple technicians or solo.
  • Mentor lower level technicians during their pursuit of additional licenses and knowledge.
  • Ensure timely and complete submission of JSAs, Toolbox Talks, audit forms, etc.
Knowledge
  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Required NICET level for trade and applicable/current TX Dept of Insurance license.
  • Strong understanding of materials, tools, equipment, and procedures used in installation; working knowledge of NFPA standards.
  • Current and clear TX driver’s license with clean driving record; applicable criminal background clearance.
Work Experience
  • Sprinkler:
    Minimum 5 years (install/service experience a plus).
  • Alarm:
    Minimum 3 years (install/service experience a plus).
  • Minimum of 2 years overall experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years overall experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years overall experience and must have FAL license and work experience.
Skills and Competencies

  • Valid state driver’s license and good driving record.
  • Perform testing and maintenance.
