Yard Worker / Driver

Join our service and repair shop as a yard worker with responsibilities extending to delivery driving. Our company specializes in the repair and maintenance of diesel engines, pumps, and vac-loaders. While our mechanics are hard at work in the shop, you will be responsible for transporting materials and delivering repaired equipment to customer sites in the Houston area. Your role will include communication with customers regarding service setups, and being on call as needed.

You will also assist with general labor tasks around the yard and occasionally perform pump watch at client sites. In the long term, we seek candidates willing to obtain a CDL to transport large pumps and rental equipment using a flatbed trailer.

Responsibilities:

• Transport materials and deliver repaired pumps to customer sites in the Houston area.
• Communicate with customers about service and setup.
• Assist with general labor tasks around the yard.
• Perform pump watch at client sites as needed.
• Be available on call to respond to service calls.
• Eventually haul large pumps and rental equipment using a flatbed trailer once CDL is obtained.

Essential

Skills:

• 5+ years of delivery driving experience.
• Experience in industrial settings.
• Clean driving record.
• Ability to perform manual labor around the shop.

Work Environment:

Work in a small, non-climate-controlled shop with a larger yard containing spare parts and equipment. The environment is organized though not extremely clean. Our team includes three mechanics, four warehouse/drivers, inside sales, and an Operations Manager. Employees rotate on-call duties one week per month, using a service truck for client site repairs. Expect to drive a company vehicle if called out.

Dress code includes steel-toed boots, jeans, and a work shirt. Work hours are from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday, with potential for overtime and weekend work as needed. Typical workweek is approximately 50 hours.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Pearland, TX.

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $30.00/hr individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
