Role and Responsibilities

This position is accountable for the administration, monitoring and compliance of services and functions which are legally mandated by ordinances and applicable state laws. The City Clerk serves as the administrator and custodian of City ordinances, proclamations, minutes of City Council, and all boards and commission meetings. The City Clerk is also responsible for city elections and records management. Outstanding oral communications and interpersonal skills are necessary to be able to meet with the public and discuss their problems.

Minimum Requirements
  • Any combination equivalent to experience in municipality/government and education that could likely provide the required knowledge and abilities would be qualifying. A typical way to obtain knowledge and abilities would be:
  • Must have high school diploma or G.E.D.
  • Ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience with five years of related experience as a City Clerk/Secretary or Deputy City Clerk/Secretary is preferred.
  • Certification in the Texas Municipal Clerk Certification Program recommended. Must possess a valid Texas State driver's license and maintain Notary status. Must be bondable.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish (preferred)
