In this role, you will provide onsite leadership for electrical construction activities and ensure all work is executed safely, meets technical requirements, and aligns with project schedule and budget objectives. This role directs craft labor and subcontractors, oversees daily field operations, and drives workforce planning, progress reporting, and cost/schedule performance.
Working closely with engineering, construction management, and project controls, you will resolve constructability issues, support the development of work scopes, and ensure effective use of automation tools and project procedures. You will play a central role in maintaining quality, enforcing use of current design documents, and ensuring that tools, materials, and equipment are available to support efficient execution.
Major Responsibilities:Leadership & Supervision
- Lead and direct craft labor and subcontractor teams, ensuring safe and efficient execution of daily work.
- Oversee subcontractor performance and coordination, ensuring alignment with project expectations.
- Participate in developing scopes of work, budgets, and contract formation/negotiation.
- Engage proactively in team development through CPM processes, competency assessments, and continuous feedback.
- Conduct foreman/subcontractor meetings to review/assist in daily, weekly, and monthly planning.
- Develop and monitor 3‑Week Look Ahead Schedule, verifying all material, tools and other resources are available and on site.
- Review all craft/subcontractor timesheets, installed quantity reports, and progress payment requests.
Planning
- Determine workforce requirements.
- Prepare reports and forecasts, including summary of construction progress, craft personnel forecasts, and expenditures forecast.
- Coordinate and direct multi‑discipline craft activities within a specific area of the project, or all related crafts of a single discipline covering one or more areas of the project.
- Forecast labor unit rates, field distributable, construction equipment, and quantities.
- Develop craft staffing plans which support the schedule.
- Review subcontractor construction methods, schedules, manning charts, and material and equipment requirements.
- Coordinate construction operations impact on external interfaces to ensure they coincide with the overall established schedules.
- Coordinate with other subcontractors and external stakeholders to plan construction schedules.
- Monitor and manage tools, materials & equipment.
- Prepare field material requisitions for tools and consumables and ensure that the crafts have the tools they require to be productive.
Safety & Quality
- Ensure the most current design document is used to complete the work and that all design changes are approved prior to implementation.
- Ensure assigned construction operations and subcontractors’ performance are in compliance with specifications and within schedules and budgets.
- Ensure the implementation of corporate/project policies, procedures, and instructions within assigned operations.
- Monitor the activities of subcontractors to ensure compliance with specifications and schedules.
- Ability to implement and manage a lock‑out tag‑out (LOTO) plan.
- Conduct daily Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and daily workplan at the beginning of shift.
- Requires bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) and 8‑10 years of relevant experience or 12–14 years of relevant work experience.
Skills:
- Previous experience delivering a power plant or large‑scale plant as Electrical Field Superintendent.
- Knowledge of the development of commodity installation means and methods.
- Knowledge of a single or multi‑discipline construction or engineering operation.
- Knowledge of standard work process procedures (SWPPs) and familiarity with applicable industry codes and standards such as NEC, NFPA 70E, and IEEE.
- Previous experience coordinating engineering solutions constructability issues onsite.
- Demonstrated knowledge related to the installation and testing of underground direct‑bury cable, above‑ground cable and equipment installation, and all required terminations.
