Project Overview
Rapid growth of AI and digitalization is fueling demand for data centers. The Renewables & Clean Power (R&CP) team signed an early works contract to build one of the largest gas‑fired power generation facilities in the U.S. The project in Pecos, Texas will begin full EPC delivery next year. We seek an experienced Project Welding Superintendent to mobilize on a long‑term (camp) assignment.
Position contingent upon project award.
Supervisory field construction role. Responsible for supervising and directing operations within the welding discipline, ensuring compliance with specifications, schedules, and budgets. Leads craft activities, subordinate superintendents, and subcontractors. Performs general supervisory functions and ensures safety compliance.
Major Responsibilities- Field construction operations within site welding discipline.
- Determine workforce requirements and coordinate operational plans.
- Schedule work, review craft performance, and monitor quality.
- Ensure the latest design documents are used; approve design changes before implementation.
- Approve craft time records using automated tools.
- Prepare reports and forecasts: construction progress, personnel forecasts, and expenditure.
- Monitor tool usage, prepare material requisitions.
- Monitor subcontractors for compliance with specifications and schedules.
- Implement corporate/project policies, coordinate with other disciplines and client representatives.
- Conduct employee reviews and identify training opportunities.
- Enforce Bechtel and local/national safety codes; promote Zero Accident Philosophy; participate in safety meetings.
- Implement Six Sigma tools, analysis, and decision‑making.
- Bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) and 8–10 years relevant experience, or 12–14 years relevant experience.
- Welding Superintendent: 10–12 years industry experience in welding and supervision, minimum 3 years at Bechtel.
- Lead Welding Superintendent: 10–12 years industry experience in welding and supervision, minimum 5 years at Bechtel.
- Maintain a safe work ethic and environment.
- Knowledge of multiple welding methods and direct‑hire construction.
- Computer literacy:
Microsoft Word, Excel, Navisworks, document management (Aconex, Unifier), quantity reporting (Teamworks). - Strong communication, problem‑solving, and motivation skills.
- Experience with Bechtel Standard Work Process Procedures.
- Knowledge of construction activities related to engineering, cost, scheduling, and contract administration.
- Commitment to ES&H and Zero Incident safety program.
- Familiarity with industry quality standards and SWPPs.
This role involves field inspections requiring extensive walking, climbing ladders, scaffolding, elevated platforms, uneven surfaces, and small or confined spaces, with some lifting. Ability to enter/egress the project. Use of PPE (harness, life vest, lift buckets, etc.) is required.
