Project Overview
The rapid growth of AI and digitalization is fueling unprecedented demand for data centers that require large, reliable sources of energy. In response to this market trend, the Renewables & Clean Power (R&CP) team has signed an early works contract to build one of the largest gas‑fired power generation facilities in the U.S. Our team is helping the customer progress early‑stage development, which would lead to the start of full EPC delivery next year.
Job SummaryIn this role, you will provide onsite leadership for underground commodity installation activities ensuring all work is executed safely, meets technical requirements, and aligns with project schedule and budget objectives. This role directs field superintendents and subcontractors, oversees daily field operations, and drives workforce planning, progress reporting, and cost/schedule performance. Working closely with engineering, construction management, and project controls, you will resolve constructability issues, support the development of work scopes, and ensure effective use of automation tools and project procedures.
You will play a central role in maintaining quality, enforcing use of current design documents, and ensuring that tools, materials, and equipment are available to support efficient execution.
- Lead and direct field supervision and subcontractor teams, ensuring safe and efficient execution of daily work.
- Oversee subcontractor performance and coordination, ensuring alignment with project expectations.
- Perform general functions inherent in all supervisory field positions.
- Participate in developing scopes of work, budgets, and contract formation/negotiation.
- Oversee, coordinate, and report field activities of construction subcontracts.
- Engage proactively in team development through continuous performance management processes, competency assessments, and continuous feedback.
- Conduct superintendent/subcontractor meetings to review/assist in daily, weekly, and monthly planning.
- Develop and monitor 3‑Week Look Ahead Schedule for assigned work scope.
- Develop corrective plan to ensure progress and productivity targets are met.
- Verify that all material, tools and other resources needed to support the 3‑Week Look Ahead Schedule are available and on site.
- Conduct foreman/subcontractor meetings to review/assist in daily, weekly, and monthly planning.
- Supervise direct‑hire projects general foreman and foreman.
- Maintain a daily log for site records.
- Review all craft/subcontractor timesheets, installed quantity reports, and progress payment requests.
- Monitor supplier Technical Service Representative daily log and review/approve their timesheets.
- Coordinate assigned craft/subcontractor(s) daily and weekly work plans with other disciplines.
- Conduct daily Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and daily workplan at the beginning of shift.
- Determine workforce requirements.
- Coordinate established area operational plans.
- Prepare reports and forecasts, including summary of construction progress, craft personnel forecasts, and expenditures forecast.
- Participate in weekly cost and schedule reviews with senior management.
- Monitor tool and equipment usage on the site.
- Oversee the preparation of Field Material Requisition s for tools and consumables and ensure that the crafts have the tools they require to be productive.
- Ensure the most current design document is used to complete the work and that all design changes are approved prior to implementation.
- Ensure assigned construction operations and subcontractors' performance are in compliance with specifications and within schedules and budgets.
- Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8–10 years of relevant experience or 12–14 years of relevant work experience.
- Previous experience delivering underground commodity installations as a Field Superintendent.
- Maintain, promote, and cultivate a safe work ethic and work environment within the craft and professional staff.
