Description:
Pecos High School serves as the flagship campus for the Pecos-Barstow Toyah Independent School District, educating over 800 students in the rural West Texas community of Pecos. Under the leadership of Principal Chantel Hluchan, the school is experiencing significant growth and modernization to better serve its student body. The campus recently expanded with a new Career and Technical Education (CTE) building that opened in July 2024, providing students with enhanced opportunities for hands‑on learning and career preparation.
This state‑of‑the‑art facility reflects the district's commitment to preparing students for both college and career pathways in an increasingly technical workforce. Looking ahead, Pecos High School is set to undergo further transformation with the planned opening of a new academic building and natatorium in summer 2026. These additions will significantly enhance the educational environment and provide expanded opportunities for both academic instruction and aquatic programs, demonstrating the community's ongoing investment in student success.
As part of a district known for innovative approaches to education and student engagement, Pecos High School continues to evolve as a comprehensive high school that serves the diverse needs of students in this tight‑knit rural community, preparing them for success in their post‑secondary endeavors while maintaining strong connections to their West Texas roots.
