The rapid growth of AI and digitalization is fueling unprecedented demand for data centers that require large, reliable sources of energy. In response to this market trend, the Renewables & Clean Power (R&CP) team have signed an early works contract to build one of the largest gas fired power generation facilities in the U.S. Our team is helping the customer progress early‑stage development, that would lead to the start of full EPC delivery next year.
We are seeking an experienced candidate to be the Field Engineer - Undergrounds (Piping) on the CCGT Project in Pecos, Texas. You will mobilize directly to the field on a long‑term (camp) assignment in Pecos, TX. This position is contingent upon project award.
In this role, you will provide project field engineering specialization and expertise with work planning and packaging, material management, quantity verification and validation, safety and quality control, technical inspection and testing knowledge, and subcontract coordination. Your recommendations will ensure field engineering activities operate safely, are complete, and conform to quality standards and project requirements. #LI-RM1
Major Responsibilities Work Planning & Packing- Prepares construction drawings and sketches.
- Leads preparation of construction drawings and schedules and the design of temporary construction facilities and ensures preparation of "as built" drawings and other job plans.
- Initiates requisitions for field purchases.
- Prepares quantity takeoffs of field purchased material and equipment.
- Verifies commodities on quantity tracking systems or other computer database systems as required.
- Ensures zero accident philosophy and requirements are implemented and adhered to by craft and others when in the operational area, and tools and equipment are in safe condition and operated safely.
- Proactively considers continuous learning or shows interest to pursue appropriate learning activities.
- Develops firm understanding of system and area scoping and drawings required for package development.
- Reviews and approves inspection test plans.
- Reviews of subcontractor submittals.
- Requires bachelors degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience.
- Knowledge of modularization of piping and pipe racks, above ground & below ground piping systems and line testing preferred.
- Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheets, and database applications.
- Working knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards.
- Must be physically able to conduct field inspections and participate in project walk‑downs which may require the following activities: extensive walking in and around a construction site, climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, using fall protection and other personal protective equipment (PPE), walking on elevated platforms, walking on uneven surfaces, and maneuvering around very small and/or confined spaces.
- Well developed communication skills and problem‑solving ability.
- Able to work extended work schedules and night shift as required to support the project execution plans and schedules.
