The rapid growth of AI and digitalization is fueling unprecedented demand for data centers that require large, reliable sources of energy. In response to this market trend, the Renewables & Clean Power (R&CP) team have signed an early works contract to build one of the largest gas fired power generation facilities in the U.S. Our team is helping the customer progress early‑stage development, that would lead to the start of full EPC delivery next year.
Job SummaryWe are seeking an experienced candidate to be the Field Engineer - Piping on the CCGT Project in Pecos, Texas. You will mobilize to the project on a long‑term (camp) assignment in Pecos, TX. This position is contingent upon project award.
In this role as Field Engineer - Piping, you will provide project field engineering support with work planning and packaging, material management, quantity verification and validation, safety and quality control, technical inspection and testing knowledge, and coordination of system turnover. Your work will contribute to ensuring field engineering activities operate safely, are complete, and conform to quality standards and project requirements.
MajorResponsibilities Work Planning & Packaging
- Prepares construction drawings and sketches.
- Interfaces in planning construction methods and procedures.
- Initiates requisitions for field purchases
- Prepares quantity takeoffs of field purchased material and equipment.
- Verifies commodities on quantity tracking systems or other computer database systems as required.
- Ensures zero accident philosophy and requirements are implemented and adhered to by craft and others when in the operational area, and tools and equipment are in safe condition and operated safely.
- Proactively considers continuous learning or shows interest to pursue appropriate learning activities.
- Develops firm understanding of system and area scoping and drawings required for package development.
- Reviews and approves inspection test plans
- Coordinates reviews of subcontractor submittals
- Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 2-5 years of relevant experience or 6-9 years of relevant work experience.
- Experience in the installation of underground and above ground piping including pressure testing of piping systems.
- Experience in the installation of high‑pressure steam piping will be an added advantage.
- Working knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards.
- Well developed written and verbal communication skills and problem‑solving ability.
- Demonstrated commitment to environment, safety and health (ES&H) and quality.
- Able to work extended work schedules and night shift as required to support the project execution plans and schedules.
- Prior experience with Advanced Work Packaging (AWP) is preferred.
- Experience with Simple Cycle or Combined Cycle facilities is preferred.
