Deputy Project Field Superintendent

Project Overview

The rapid growth of AI and digitalization is fueling unprecedented demand for data centers that require large, reliable sources of energy. In response to this market trend, the Renewables & Clean Power (R&CP) team has signed an early works contract to build one of the largest gas fired power generation facilities in the U.S. The Kilby CCGT project is of significant scale and complexity, and our team is helping the customer progress early‑stage development, leading to the start of full EPC delivery this year.

In this role, you will lead a team and supervise superintendents and/or craft professionals on the project. You will direct craft professional activities and work schedules, coordinate subcontract work and team development, and ensure compliance with project policies, procedures, rules and specifications.

Leadership / Supervision

• Supervise and direct craft activities, subordinate superintendents, and other personnel.
• Schedule work and review processes performed by each craft.

Planning / Productivity

• Determine workforce requirements.
• Coordinate established area operational plans.

Tools, Materials & Equipment

• Oversee tool and equipment usage on the site.
• Manage field material requisitions for tools and consumables.

Safety & Quality

• Ensure the most current design document is used and approvals are obtained before implementation.
• Ensure construction operations and subcontractors comply with specifications and stay on schedule and budget.

Technical

• Work with construction field engineers, foremen, and craft professionals to interpret engineering design documents and other technical documents.
• Manage engineering solutions with subcontractors, foremen, and craft professionals.

• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) and 10–13 years of relevant experience, or 14–17 years of relevant work experience.

• Experience with Combined Cycle or Light Duty Gas Turbines/Aeroderivative projects is preferred.
• Experience managing projects with direct hire open‑shop craft professionals.
• Demonstrated knowledge of construction engineering practices across all disciplines.
• Coordinate construction completion walk‑downs and supervise punch list close‑outs.
• Ensure adherence to Bechtel standards and lessons learned.
• Identify potential back‑charges and out‑of‑scope issues, report to management, and support commercial recovery processes.
• Work extended schedules as required to support project execution plans.
• Demonstrate interpersonal skills and establish a high‑performing team.
