PROJECT INFORMATIONOur client is an elite global infrastructure and construction firm specializing in massive, complex projects is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to tackle premier engineering challenges in highly complex geological environments. In this role, you will spearhead comprehensive subterranean investigation programs, design intricate deep foundations and advanced ground improvement systems and oversee major earthworks initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical acumen in sophisticated finite element modeling and numerical analysis, with a passion for delivering innovative engineering solutions on a global scale.
POSITIONOVERVIEW
We are seeking a Senior Geotechnical Field Engineer for an immediate, site-based assignment in West Texas to provide critical field oversight during extensive earthworks operations. Reporting to both the regional field leadership team and functional engineering management, the successful candidate will work independently to drive site activities while collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams, including structural, construction, safety, and project management personnel.
This six-month field deployment requires a proactive problem-solver with strong organizational skills, a collaborative mindset, and the flexibility to travel to corporate offices as required.
- This position provides vital engineering oversight for on-site earthworks operations while contributing to the broader development and execution of geotechnical field investigations. Key responsibilities include generating and evaluating engineering designs, technical specifications, and detailed calculations, as well as authoring comprehensive geotechnical reports aligned with industry standards, regulatory codes, and contractual obligations. Operating within a collaborative, multidisciplinary team environment, the successful candidate will actively manage task scopes, project timelines, and budgetary constraints while executing targeted technical deliverables.
- On-site technical supervision of earthworks activities
- Soil and/or rock excavations support
- Implementation of engineering specification and drawing requirements for earthworks, soil excavation support, etc.
- Preparing or checking technical memos, reports, etc.
- Review vendor submittals and integrate information into the design solution.
- Execute to schedule requirements while maintaining a high degree of quality in work product.
- Coordinate closely with other technical disciplines in planning and executing work as an integrated team.
- An M.S. Degree in Geotechnical Engineering or other related Engineering discipline from an accredited university or college with 11 years of progressive related experience in the field.
- Advanced knowledge of earthworks with an emphasis in cold weather earth work best practices.
- Proficiency in the use of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
- Advanced knowledge of site and subsurface investigation, foundation design and analysis, earthwork designs, soil and/or rock slope stability analysis.
- Knowledge of industry guides, codes, and standards.
- Excellent listening, oral and written communication, planning and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
- Experience with geotechnical software such as Slope/W, Plaxis, etc., Microsoft office programs, and other common computer programs.
- Demonstrable previous experience working on earthworks for a large-scale project
- Registered Geotechnical Professional Engineer (P.E.) or equivalent.
- Related experience in geotechnics applied to earthworks design and construction.
- Knowledge of relevant geotechnical software and computational tools.
